Review of the Bank of Scotland, Classic Account:

GREAT OVERALL PRODUCT

I love this account as it is easy to use and operate and the overdraft facility has been fine tuned now so it advises you how much you can borrow and you can do this easily and simply in just a few clicks. The down side, and the only reason I do not give it FULL MARKS is that it is easier to borrow than to pay back and if I choose to pay back some of my overdraft this is shown as me being inconsistent instead of diligently managing my money! Review of the Standard Life, Pensions:

Plain Pensions

I have had my pension with Standard Life since my company asked me to join about 15 years ago. Since then I have taken voluntary redundancy and now I am self employed. I have been carefully advised, helped and looked after by them since then, and I have a nice little package which will suit me well when I retire or even, should I wish, when I reach 55, so I can take a small lump sum. I think their customer service is always friendly and helpful and thoughtful too. Reviewed on: 19th June 2017

Home is where the (Halifax) Bank of Scotland insurance is!

I was persuaded to take out insurance with Halifax-Bank of Scotland or HBOS when I found my own insurance creeping up each year, as it does..... So a very kind inhouse advisor talked me through it, gave me a look at a little video and a lovely little document wallet with all my terms and conditions - the result is that I am now getting equivalent insurance with home emergency cover and it costs me almost £10 less than my old insurers - go figure! Barclaycard Brilliant

Best credit card I've ever had! Fine to use, easy to keep track of and happy to increase your credit limit online - decreasing it is just as easy online, which, for a financial company, is a bit of a miracle! Its almost always more difficult to decrease than increase but I have always found them to be really helpful. Their customer services are exceptionally easy to use and very friendly. Phoned up with a query on my account and the end result was a GoG (Gesture of Goodwill) refund to my card of £30 just as a thank you for talking to them! Result! Reviewed on: 30th April 2017
