The south’s answer to the bank of Dave!

I see Cockles Finance as the south’s answer to The Bank Of Dave. The reason being, like the Netflix film, they are family run & so when you call, your always speaking to someone you feel you know & they are super friendly. I never want to miss a payment because the service is so personalised that I’d feel that by doing so, would be like not paying back a mate, but if you do get in a pickle, they are not unapproachable, so you don’t panic & end up doing something stupid like taking out another loan from somewhere else to pay back their loan. They are real with you, they’ll never let you borrow more than you can afford. You build trust with them just like the bank of Dave. I just love them as I feel like they really know me. If I call and say my bank card got nicked & I forgot to give you the new details, they know me well enough to know I’m telling the truth & so they respond by telling me not to worry and thanks for taking the time to call in and let them know. So basically this mutual trust makes you want to be loyal to them. Cockles Finance don’t jump out of the woodwork with surprise charges. Before I accept a loan, they call me up and talk through interest first, step by step. Then they email me a copy of what we agreed. I therefore don’t feel like they are trying to stitch me up……..ever. In fact, the complete opposite, they don’t want me taking out a loan unless I can afford it. They care about their customers more than they care about their profit margins. Maybe the fact that they are not completely preoccupied with Wonga is why they are one of the few short term loan companies still in business! Reviewed on: 22nd March 2025

So nice to deal with real people & not robots at this family business!

Dan was super friendly & I felt they were fair in terms of deciding how much they would lend as a first time customer. I feel much happier dealing with a local family run business. I felt treated like a person & not a number. Reviewed on: 27th July 2023
