Review of the first direct, Regular Saver Account:

Lack of customer service

I switched to First Direct fulfilled all the requirements and received the switch reward. I opened the 7% saver account and began saving £300 every month by direct debit from my First Direct account. So far so good. Afer a few months I received a message that my First Direct account was overdrawn. I called customer service and was told that the £300 had been taken from my First Direct account for that month and my First Direct account was now overdrawn - by a couple of pounds only. Customer Service refused to waive the overdrawn penalties. He could not explain why they had transferred the £300 to my saver account if there was insufficient funds in my main account- and why they had not informed me beforehand. I would have gladly desposited the few pounds. One would think that they would be keen to retain me a customer after paying the switch bonus.. But obviously not. Terrible uncaring service. Freetrade - they do what is on the tin - free trades...

I have had a Freetrade account since 2019 and I have found them to be consistently reliable. My trading costs are zero. My account could be complely free but I choose to pay £60 per annum for their "Standard" plan which provides me with some enhancements. Any queries I have had were dealt with quickly by Customer Support. Highly reccomended. Reviewed on: 15th March 2024
