If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve never been able to use the card without it being declined. Every time I call the helpline I’m told “there’s no reason the payment can’t go through”. After arguing that there is obviously a reason for it, I get passed on to a different person so tells me an excuse and tells me the issue is fixed and hangs up. But the issue is not fixed and I end up having to call back and then I’m told a different excuse. The people on the phone don’t seem to know what they’re doing and will tell you excuse after excuse and contradict and repeat themselves over and over again. After trying to make one payment it finally went through after 3 days of calling them and only did it go through after a put an official complaint in. Again I am trying to use the card for a second payment and it’s declining. I’ve been on the phont on and off to them for the last three hours and every advisor has told me something different. One has even told me “it’s against our policy to use the card to pay to car services like you are trying to do” which is complete bullshit there is no restriction for this. Trying to tell me that the credit card cannot be used to car merchants such as Ford, mini, bmw etc that this is not allowed. Then the next advisor tells me that this is not true but again “there’s no reason why the payment can’t go through” but not accepting the fact that for some reason it is declining. So unhelpful, the card is shit and doesn’t even work. If you want to get a card with M&S bank just be prepared to have all payments declined and to spend 3-4 days on the phone arguing and arguing until they finally accept it and the staff will repeat the same useful shit over and over again.
