On Sunday the 7th April 2024, my washer while in spin mode started smoking.  (Please, see photo attached).  I contacted argos on twitter straight away.  Especially as my washer was only brought on the 18th December 2023 and delivered on 21st December 2023.  So by the time this happened it was barely 3 months old.  So it is under warranty still.  My last washer last me 12 years, the one before that 10 years.  So you can imagine how shocked, upset and stressed I am over this machine not even lasting 5% of the time they did.   Argos arranged for pacifica engineer to attend on the 16th April 2024.  I turned up at the same time as the gentleman and greated him friendly.  He was off but I took that as his not a people person. He came in returned to his van than come back.  The form deleted information on him after he took photo of my photo I had of it smoking.  He then pulled it out checked the plug, then checked the drum by spinning it half way.  He then told us he was done, I reminded him about retaking the photo, he said it was done.  As he was leaving I asked him how long until we know and he told me they will ring within 24hours to arrange delivery of new washer.  I then continually messaged argos on twitter.  They kept saying they haven't had the report back. Finally today 22nd April 2024 I was contacted to be told he found no faults and it was safe to use.  Please see twitter on how it started smoking again. https://twitter.com/MrsAmyCarney/status/1782395174376620311?t=3EQ2I71dRQahhRdDooXkdg&s=19 I will also add small clip to this email.  They also informed me I have to pay £95 (as I've been getting quotes) to provide my own report.  Even after I sent video of it smoking again, they informed me not to use it.  I was also promised a call back today from an executive manager that never happened.  Today after me threatening legal action to argos and pacifica as they have placed our lives in danger, Argos started deleting messages on Twitter. This is extremely poor customer service.  I did originally just want a machine swap but now I want a full refund.  As I will go to curry's as I have done before.  A copy of email to trading standards Reviewed on: 23rd April 2024
