Investing with a heart

Abundance offers ethical investments for ordinary people. You can invest as little as £5, and there are a range of investments across different sectors, from green energy to forestry to housing, allowing you to build a diverse portfolio and spread your risk. Each new debenture comes with a comprehensive offer document, detailing the backgrounds of the individuals involved, the business model, what your money will be spent on, how it will be repaid, and the risks - both general and peculiar to that project. If the company ends up in difficulties - which does happen - Abundance are proactive in supporting them, negotiating with government bodies (Ofgem being the most useless of these) and renegotiating repayment terms where necessary. They also provide regular updates. Returns are well-adjusted to the level of risk, with a range of high-interest/ high-risk vs lower-interest safer investments. As long as you remember this IS NOT a savings account and that your capital is at risk, and don't invest more than you can afford to lose, it's a great way to put your money to work for good. If you invest via Abundance, be prepared to lose your money. Of course, everyone investing via Abundance is warned about the risk. But you are also dependent on Abundance's vetting of the projects. As a result of my experiences of restructuring and defaults I would not advise anybody to invest. Perhaps it is better for individuals to invest via an ethical ISA fund so the risk is spread. Good returns from green investment

I invest in a range of green initiatives from Tidal energy to strawberry growing. Debentures are easy to buy and trade on the Abundance platform. Reviewed on: 26th September 2022

AVOID

They give you the big sell on their Website. Thinking that you are doing a great thing... You open an account and put money in safe in the knowledge that in 12 months time you'll have your capital back and the interest that they promised you!! They then invest your money in projects that have no guaranteed set up for subsidies from OFGEM. ("Purely there word" by the sounds of it). Then they re-structure everything so that you will get your money back in bits and drabs over 20 odd years. When that fails and they miss those payments too. You then try to sell your stake on the Market Place for a massive loss and low and behold, Abundance stop you from doing that!!! Money down the drain. If you want to secure your future then please do not invest in these charlatans... Contact them and you'll get a mountain load of bull and fob off treatment. They'll basically make you feel like it was all your fault and not theirs.. Reviewed on: 6th May 2021

Great to use the marketplace to build a diversified portfolio

I've been using Abundance for little over 6 months and have found it the best of the platforms that I use. I've been able to pick up shares in a variety of different projects quite easily and it's been a very good interface to use. Whilst the number of projects available for initial investment may be low, the volume on the secondary marketplace means you don't have to wait to start to get your money working for you. Great way for f losing your money

You are encouraged to invest in companies that have no planning or Ofgen licenses. And they don’t get the permits to trade and your money disappears. Avoid. Reviewed on: 28th November 2020

Very easy to get involved with and goes to a great cause.
