Review of the Drive Like a Girl, Car Insurance:

Fair price, but misleading sales/poor customer servivce

1
I insured my Son with DLG in July 2017 as a new driver. They weren't quite the best price, but at the time offered what appeared to be good incentives for him to drive well .. points accrue towards products or miles. Not needing additional miles, he was saving points (the maximum each month) towards products. Logging on after a few months, the option to spend points on products had 'disappeared' .. we had been given no notice. We are still trying to find out why .. would help if DLG actually responded to emails. This mis-selling, plus a slightly better price for a non-black box policy means he has now left. There is no incentive to stay any longer. Logging on was also an issue - we had to change passwords frequently. May be worth considering if rewards aren't a worthy incentive for you, but our experience wasn't that good to warrant staying with them any longer. UPDATE - Having had to raise an 'official' complaint 2 months later to try and get the answers required (to which they're not exactly responding quickly), I have revised this review to show how truely poor this company is. Honestly, for your own sanity, just go elsewhere. Reviewed on: 21st July 2018

Website is always downs

shocking to see that some complaints regarding the terrible website date back to 2018 and they still havent fixed it. 0- no communication at all. Everything is outsourced so it is super hard to keep up with who you should be talking to. Reviewed on: 30th March 2020

Poor customer service

They need to act and speak professional Got my renewal cancelled due to claim at the end I won my claim after long time . Basically you have to fight to get something Reviewed on: 1st January 2020

WEBSITE NEVER WORKING

2
Very slow to update son's black box info on his car, but trying to get in contact with this company is dire. Website never seems to be working to check mileage, having to pay an extortionate amount of money for extra miles and then they don't even register receipt of payment for them. Very poor admin, I would look elsewhere for insurance folks. Reviewed on: 8th December 2019

Rip off merchants

1
Had DLG for a year - due to leaving my prior renewal until the last moment and not having the best credit rating, they were the cheapest pay monthly option. I drive like an old person anyway so was fine with the black box and got a top "score" every month for good driving. I was expecting a slightly cheaper renewal due to my high score, the renewal came back extortionate. No accidents, no change of details, same car, great driving score. None of their employees could explain it. Their pricing department took a ridiculous amount of time to come back with an explanation or a better quote so I ditched them and went with Admiral. This did however put a blip on my carefully repaired credit record, because they work with premium credit who then "cancelled" a credit agreement for the exorbitant renewal price which I never agreed to pay. Customer service is appalling and their line that safer drivers get rewarded by paying less is a plain lie. Reviewed on: 10th October 2018

Just rubbish...

I'm writing on behalf of a very upset friend. They have just had their policy cancelled, let me begin by saying they are a really good driver. They tried time and time again to log onto 'my portal' but each time to have the web page crash. The company never ever sent one letter (apart from the cancellation letter) but once called they claimed to have sent loads; they must be invisible. They have also claimed they sent loads of emails as well, but the recurring pattern is, the only email they received is the cancellation one. So the only reason this review has one stars is because there is no option for no stars. So they are now left with the rest of the bill until the end of their policy their policy has gone up by hundreds. SO from the experience they have had I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it. Great for new drivers, I think all newly passed drivers should have the black box, makes you a safer driver. You learn to keep to the speed limits. #safteyfirst Reviewed on: 24th July 2016

Drive Like a Girl got me through my first 2 years of driving safe, I think having a black box is what most new drivers should take on board, you learn to drive the right speed limit and when you do you receive a great discount! This overall helps you become a much safer driver. I have recommended this to friends which have taken on board and agree. Reviewed on: 14th July 2016
