Review of the Teachers' Pensions, Pension:

There are words in the dictionary that adequately describe this service

1
You'd have to join a few up with hyphens and add an exclamation mark or two. This is what you are up against. I simply want my contributions returned. I no longer wish to be part of the scheme. TPS hold my contributions. I am not eligible to receive anything that the employers have contributed. So it's only the money that the TPS has that I can get. And yet - they still need ME to send out forms to the employers to confirm service for money that they already have. What is this new manifestation of insanity? They have the money, I am not entitled to anything else, they have to account for tax and NI and then they can pay it out - except they have to ask someone else before they can. In triplicate (Not joking). No wonder they deal predominantly with retirees - they're the only ones with enough time to navigate this idiocy. Reviewed on: 24th July 2023

I have been waiting foe a CETV for 364 days.

I have been waiting foe a CETV for 364 days. Hundreds of others habe been waiting as long or longer. Without this we cannot divorce. The impact on my life is enormous. No help, no timescale, no care. They're affecting my quality of life now and forevermore. Reviewed on: 21st August 2024

Absolute shambles

1
Seems pretty pointless adding my review because its obvious that nothing seems to get through to them. I first applied for my pension back in March. I am now two weeks away from my birthday, (mid June), when I should receive my pension and I still don't know what I'll be getting. All I know is they made a mistake in their calculations (which they finally admitted in a secure message last month), but I've heard nothing since. I submitted a formal complaint back in April about the appalling discrepancies in advisors - some have no idea what they're doing, some are apologetic but don't know how to help, some are downright rude. But again, no response. This is our money they are holding onto. It's criminal the way we are being treated. Reviewed on: 7th June 2024

Not fit for purpose

1
A failure to deliver reasonable level of basic service. Inaccurate pension forecasts for years, failure to respond in a timely manner to requests for information, complaints handled poorly with a terse rude response. Website and messaging service failures. Has become a laughing stock of a service provider in the teaching profession. This service offer or lack of reflects on leadership at every level in the organisation and the DfE who commission this totally inadequate service. Shameful! Reviewed on: 8th April 2024

Avoid Teachers Pensions

1
I started to take my small pension that I had accumulated over the years, starting from August. This month (February) it was stopped. When I rang and asked for an explanation, the call handler said that she ‘Didn’t know’ and there was no information on the system. At this point I am wondering if there was any point at all in trying to build up a pension pot as these people do not seem to follow any rules. I intend to fight this in the courts if necessary. You could spend your life trying to login

1
The login system is extremely convoluted and frustrating. Every time I see the message that my login is wrong, so begins an hour or so, back and forth, making new passwords, getting in once (if lucky). You HAVE to have a linked phone next to you as well even if logging on on your home pc. Reviewed on: 18th October 2023

Teachers' Pension - A Disappointing and Unreliable Option

1
I have had multiple pensions in my life, but I must say that Teachers' Pension is by far the worst one I've ever had. The company doesn't contribute anything, and you're left to provide for yourself. What's even worse is that you're unable to see the amount of money you have, making it almost impossible to plan for the future. If you do want to take your money out, you're only able to withdraw what you've put in, but even then, you'll lose almost half of it. It feels like a complete scam of a pension scheme. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and would advise people to look elsewhere for a better option. Reviewed on: 5th May 2023

2 years and 2 months and it still isn't sorted!

1
We have been trying to sort out an issue with my pension for over two years. It should have been a relatively straightforward issue but the level of incompetence one encounters from this organisation couldn't be scripted. Avoid at all costs. Reviewed on: 15th November 2022

Really slow and no communication.

1
The most convoluted, confusing website I have seen. Applied in October 2021 for early retirement due to ill health. Finally got a decision in October 2022. I was told I would be paid within 10 days and they have a task tracker to measure the progress of the claim. Mine was stuck on 20% complete for the whole 10 days. On the 10th day I rang them to find out if there was a problem. They told me they were waiting for information from my school. (I have a good relationship with my school and they have done a fantastic job of looking after me while I worked there). School had already informed me that they had sent the info the previous week. Oh, lo and behold he found the info that the school had returned "that day". Task was then deleted and a new one replaced it and you guessed it, it will take 10 days to complete. Wife and I are now facing eviction from our home, I tried to explain this to the helpline but he was abrupt and honestly didn't give a stuff. If you are considering early retirement I would honestly suggest you have a flutter on the lottery instead. I think your chances might be slightly better than mine. See you on skid row. Beyond appalling: they treat bereaved families with contempt

1
Beyond appalling. My experience with this inept organisation following my mother's death in August beggars belief. I've sent emails, phone calls, their official forms and I'm still waiting for help! The bereavement department doesn't answer emails, doesn't have a phone number, refuses to release information on the money owed to my mother's estate unless I supply my bank account (contrary to official advice for executors) and, to crown it all, sent me five duplicate standard letters today costing their members several pounds and not answering the questions I'd asked in any way shape or form. I hope the CEO is proud of this shocking excuse of an outfit he presides over. They are treating bereaved families with contempt. Reviewed on: 21st October 2022
