First insurance claim in 20 years so an actual review

First time in 20 years I have made an insurance claim so I feel I'm able to review. I bought through the club because of value for money for the reviews obtained. My own experience differs. My van was hit by a driver of a French registered car whilst parked in a car perk in France. My initial call was logged with the claims company on the day of the accident, I was sent a claim reference by text along with the contact number for AXA and informed they would contact me directly for full details. After 2 days with no contact I rang AXA to find no record of the claim. AXA took the details and I then received conflicting emails from different departments. Further calls resulted in staff telling me they had everything required. About 2 weeks later I had an email saying further details of third party needed. Another call resulted in being told all info was correct. The repairs were authorised and while waiting for parts I enquired by phone as to progress of admission of third party for fault and how to claim for accommodation overnight whilst repair done. I was told I would have to apply directly to third party's insurance and they would forward their email address. A month later, about to attend the workshop for repairs, I rang AXA again as I had not received the email address. This time told that no contact has been made with the third party insurance yet with an unbelievable reason as to why. Also told that legitimate expense claims should be dealt with by them as part of the claim. This is 2 months after reporting the accident. The service agent I spoke to today has raised a complaint and I am also awaiting contact from the foreign claims department with an explanation. Reviewed on: 6th September 2024

We take insurer claims service very seriously and are always happy to follow up any issues via our broker partner Devitt, who will investigate with the relevant insurer. Although you have rightly raised a complaint with the insurer, if you contact Devitt on [email protected] they should be able to support you with this. Response date: 10th September 2024

We would not have purchased our motorhome without being able to take out a very reasonable quote for the insurance from the Caravan and Motorhome club other quotes were way too expensive we hope this will continue when it comes to renewing next year Reviewed on: 2nd September 2024
