Review of the insurefor, Travel Insurance:

Cheap, simple and quick

Calling all NHS workers. Insurefor give 10% discount to staff through the NHS discout website. The website is very straightforward and lists all the insurance details depending on which policy you want. Reviewed on: 26th July 2017

So we tried to make a claim on the insurance as we had a call from the hospital on the day of departure (packed and kids in the car about to leave) that my wife was advised not to fly. A couple of days before she had seen a doctor who thought her symptoms were just a virus but if she was more concerned she could pop to A+E to get checked over. The hospital said they couldn't find anything but it could have been a suspected stroke and they would do an MRI just to be on the safe side but that we were ok to fly in 2 days time. Obviously a consultant who was booking the MRI thought different, hence the phone call. Absolutely gutted we unloaded and felt assured that at least we would get the money back through insurance as we were medically told not to fly. After putting in the claim and a bit of backwards and forwards we also submitted her past 2 year medical history, no problem. Only to be told that because she had been to the doctors 20 months before with a headache and prescribed medication for 2 weeks our claim was rejected. In the doctors notes it states no reason found for the headaches and no further investigation required. We took out the insurance in good faith ans why would you take out an insurance policy that you knew would be useless ? So beware that any medication prescribed in the last 5 years from the doctor for any reason needs to be disclosed (probably best to request medical history from the doctor as who can remember everything they have been to the doctors for and how long ago it was??). I tried to talk to InsureFor to see if they would offer any other support who just hide behind AXAs decision and don't seem to care about customer care. Ruined holiday and no support or care given by InsureFor. Offered a chance to put it right and to help but just say they can't do anything (Yes they can, they are the company who sold the policy and who.my contract is with, they choose not to and that profits are more important than customer satisfaction). Obviously will not be using them again and would not recommend them for your travel insurance. Such a shame as would have happily used them again if the experience was positive. STAY CLEAR OF THIS MOB INSURE.COM.

They happily take your money but if you dare to make a claim they ship you on to another organisation REACTIVE CLAIMS set up to blatantly stonewall you and fight every penny of any claim. They are absolute scam merchants in every sense. In the summer of last year my wife and I booked our honeymoon (flights in and out of Scandinavia and hotels in various cities with train journeys between there selected cities). I mistakenly used INSURE.COM as my insurance provider for this 2 week trip. 3 DAYS prior to our honeymoon I was hospitalised with an abscess and when I came out of hospital the wound required dressing every day for around a month, longer than the period of the planned honeymoon. Prior to hospitalisation we managed to cancel what we could. Hotels in 3 or the 4 cities we planned to visit, but the flights into Copenhagen and out of Bergan, the hotel in Copenhagen for 3 night and the train journeys between the 4 cities had already been paid for in advance and therefore none refundable. This a shortfall of around £1300 which I wrongly assumed that the insurance would cover! I managed to obtain a statement from Ryanair saying our flights out to Copenhagen were not used and also from the hotel in Copenhagen saying that our booking though paid for was never used. A big thank you to these 2 organisations. But REACTIVE CLAIMS say they will not pay out because I cannot obtain a statement from the Scandinavian Rail Company or Norwegian Air to say that the pre-booked tickets were not used by someone else! Obviously we didn’t travel during this period of ill health and we don’t know anyone in Denmark, Sweden or Norway to give these tickets to. My recommendation to anyone reading this is to use a known reputable insurance provider and certainly not these COWBOYS. Reviewed on: 16th June 2023

These people do not understand long term customer service

I discovered today that my Insurefor Annual Premier policy does not cover me for losses incurred as a result of Coronavirus and flight cancellations. Whilst Ryanair have done the right thing and refunded flight costs in full on the back of Foreign Office advice not to fly, Insurefor have washed their hands of the problem. The policy clearly says that if the Foreign Office advises against travel then the policy is not valid for those who travel. However, if a policyholder adheres to this advice, Insurefor will not refund any costs incurred as a result of cancelling. This strikes me as immoral. I have used this company for a number of years but this will now stop. Fat cats at their worse and I am embarrassed to think that I fell for their scam. I am lucky that I have lots of friends across the UK to share this disgraceful behaviour with. Reviewed on: 14th March 2020
