I was recommended Sheffield Credit Union by a patient that I worked with many years ago, who found value and purpose in their life volunteering for the Union, I had a bad time losing my job, going through divorce, bankruptcy, bereavement and mental illness, the credit union was instrumental in helping me gain savings, faith in myself and my future money management. I’m now in a good job with lots of savings but I still enjoy saving with the credit union, knowing it will help others and continue to grow the Union and I can put something back to help others, as Sheffield Credit Union helped me. An excellent service which helps build prosperity for all

I am delighted to have a savings account with Sheffield Credit Union. In saving with them not only do I get competitive rates of interest but I am also investing in the capital of my city. The money saved is able to be loaned on honest rates to ordinary people. This helps people to avoid loan sharks and other disreputable lenders. Reviewed on: 28th June 2023

I never thought I would need a credit union

I never thought that I would need a credit union. I became a member years ago as a political gesture with a small monthly direct deduction from my salary. When I separated from my wife she threw me out, changed the locks, took the car away & took £6000 out of the joint account, the only bank account I had. I could not even honour my insurance payments. After I froze the account I had nowhere to go. Sheffield Credit Union were really sympathetic. I was able to access my savings to get me through till the end of the month & was able to bank an old cheque I found in my unopened mail. Without Sheffield Credit Union I would have been left unexpectedly with no money or financial services. I now have a new bank account & things are looking up., but Sheffield Credit Union was there when I needed them. Reviewed on: 28th June 2023

Great support towards financial freedom

Credit union have allowed me to have savings which I never had and have given me good advice regarding a loan which helped me out so much. This is so important because it avoids having to use loan sharks or using expensive loan companies who do not have your best interests at their core. Simply knowing that credit union are there to turn to for help and great advice is wonderful. I don't have a lot of savings but just knowing I have actually got some is a great self worth feeling. I know that I would never be able to get myself into debt asking for loans or anything if it was not within my budget and this is so good when dealing with credit union you get the right support and advise. An ethical way to save

For a long time, especially since the financial crisis, I have felt uncomfortable using for-profit banks who are only interested in generating wealth for their shareholders. Sheffield Credit Union offers that not-for-profit alternative. The team at the Sheffield office are really friendly and helpful and I'm so glad this service exists. Thank you.
