Very surprised at how poor this once very good insurance company have declined

Deciding to take up dental insurance again after my brilliant NHS dentist went private, my online form got a swift response confirming my submission. Then... Deciding to take up dental insurance again after my brilliant NHS dentist went private, my online form got a swift response confirming my submission. Then nothing. After 45 minutes of being passed from one department to another, finally I was told they would not accept my application, no explanation. But when pressed the manager said she would look into it but that I had had several policies in the past, yes, two, ten years ago, always paid on time, no problems. I will stop recommending this company, though unfortunately have already signed up extended family. Have they been taken over? Read more Read less

Simply Health plan for over 40 years.

I've had a Simply Health plan for over 40 years- the monthly cost has gone up over time, but a serious accident 18 years ago... I've had a Simply Health plan for over 40 years- the monthly cost has gone up over time, but a serious accident 18 years ago means that I claim maximum for treatments most years, so it's proved very worthwhile, affordable and great value. It's very easy to claim and manage the policy online, too. Read more Read less

    Absolute Farce

    I having been paying for 100% payback emergency cover for many years and now that I have used it Simplyhealth have refused to settle my... I having been paying for 100% payback emergency cover for many years and now that I have used it Simplyhealth have refused to settle my claim, 6 months I have been battling with totally incompetents. I was referred to a specialist for emergency treatment, the specialist has written to Simplyhealth stating it was an emergency but apparently they know more than the dental specialists and have refused to pay! The app doesn’t work (always says wrong password but you can log into the website with the same details), your claims take weeks to process and they find any reason not to pay you in line with your policy even if they have to make one up. I had emergency dental work done when a filling was damaged and 2 teeth with it which should be 100% covered in my policy. They insisted on then seeing 2 years of dental records which I don’t have due to my dentist closing down during the pandemic so that was declined. I then placed a claim for normal dental work instead and it was then declined around 10-12 days later because the card receipt didn’t match the treatment cost (I’d paid a deposit for the appointment as is policy at the practice and they were happy to confirm). I’ve then resubmitted with the info from the practice and they have now declined my claim as it was started before the qualifying period of 3 months. However that period was up on the 1/9/22 and my emergency appointment was the 3/10 (5 weeks later). They are some how making the assumption with was now pre planned, yet it was an emergency appointment. I had no app update to tell me the outcome, no email no nothing I’ve literally had to login to the website twice a day to see if it’s been sorted. You can’t speak to a manager, anyone in anything to do with claims and you just get through to someone working from home who just says they are sorry but doesn’t actually do anything. Just go with denplan or a company that does things properly these guys are terrible. Read more Read less

    Used for years, always easy to get money refunded for dental, eyes or other treatment. Simple to use policy which is great for basics.

    Avoids nasty shocks from dental or optical bills

    I've had the Simplyhealth Cash Plan (at the middle rate) for a few years now and as I have to pay at least some private... I've had the Simplyhealth Cash Plan (at the middle rate) for a few years now and as I have to pay at least some private dental and optician bills every year, I've found it really helpful. It spreads the payment, but also protects against any nasty shocks, because whatever the bill, a set amount will be paid by the cash plan. And if, as happened to me one year, you suddenly need to see a private consultant, it pays for half the consultant fees up to a set amount too. I've always found the claims process simple and the payment pretty swift. Had to phone them with queries a couple of times and found the customer services people pleasant and helpful too. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone with perfect sight and an NHS dentist, but for the rest of us, they're definitely worth looking at. Read more Read less
