Scam artists in suits

They declined a dd of £8. Then charge me £20 for having to decline an £8 dd, due to insufficient ballance. They tell me nothing while fining me for going into "unarranged od", then 3 months later they threatened me with debt collectors for a £200 "debt". Barclays is also the innovator of the "PPI" scam. Bank? What bank??

They've closed almost every branch and have removed the cash bonus on the blue rewards . When you try and do any in person banking you have to find a "pop-up" and 9 times out of 10 you just get told to go and do it online Reviewed on: 31st August 2024

Decent enough bank

I've been with them a long time and have found my account easy to use & access whenever I need to. There are no benefits along with my account though as well as no overdraft which makes it difficult to beat other account providers Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

Been a customer for 17 years and they have recently closed my local branch without informing me. I had a problem with the online banking app so phoned customer services. The person only liked the sound of own voice and didn’t really listen to what I had to say. I in particular don’t like that I couldn’t go to my branch to sort out this issue! I had a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience with Barclays Bank that has left me without access to my money and savings. Without any prior notification, Barclays abruptly closed my bank account, freezing all my funds. This was shocking and alarming, as it left me unable to access my money, which includes both my daily funds and significant savings. The lack of communication from Barclays throughout this ordeal has been appalling. I was not informed in advance of the account closure, and the customer service has been unhelpful and evasive. I made numerous calls to their customer service, only to be met with vague responses and a lack of clarity about the status of my funds. They instructed me to send a letter to their headquarters, which I promptly did, but I received no response. This bureaucratic runaround has been incredibly stressful, and it seems like they are making it as difficult as possible for me to get my money back. It feels like Barclays has effectively stolen my money, as they have not provided any legitimate reason for holding my funds, nor have they offered any solutions or timelines for resolution. The bank's failure to communicate, lack of transparency, and poor customer service are utterly unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone against banking with Barclays, as my experience has shown that they cannot be trusted to handle your money responsibly or provide adequate customer support. Unable to do much My advice..... avoid Barclays!

Unable to do much at all in branch except getting the very simplest of instructions carried out - have to book an appointment to see someone (at best a week ahead, on one occasion two weeks!) Local branch closed some time ago now have to travel into the centre of town. Barclays lost my original registration of a Power of Attorney on aunt's account (she's elderly with Alzheimers) so it took 14 days in all to set up. Letter received confirming online banking set up - try to pay the bill for aunt's respite care and system states I have to apply for a PINsentry card reader.... no mention of this on online banking confirmation letter! Worse still my covering letter with the PoA registration application specifically stated that there was urgent need to pay a bill on my aunt's behalf. I have no good experience with Barclays at all :( Reviewed on: 11th July 2024
