I can't stand what it has become.

I can't stand what it has become. It had deteriorated over the last 20 years. I preferred it when the setting was more formal. Stop shutting down branches.

    Use staff that English is their first language!!

    Using the business credit card and using 2 factor authentication is pathetic but even worse is dealing with the noisy background customer service team that...     I would give zero stars if I could. I have a small business and opened a Barclays business account. They phoned me out the blue... I would give zero stars if I could. I have a small business and opened a Barclays business account. They phoned me out the blue and said they were from Know Your Customer team and asked for birth date, mother’s maiden name… I said sorry I don’t know who you are, was a bit rude and hung up. They then put a red mark against my name and account and for over a year have been demanding details about the business - making me complete forms of information, repeatedly said there’s missing details. They have frozen access to my bank account over 25 times in the last year. I’ve spent weeks worth of time talking to them to unfreeze it so I can pay people and receive income… it’s been awful. I have contract that pay in so it’s hard to switch banks. I put in a complaint and they closed that after two days without talking to me to resolve anything. Stay away from them if you are thinking of using them. This is harassment and I’ve thought of giving up on the business at times when I’ve been trying to pay things only to find my account frozen and it’s an hour wait in call centre queue to explain the issues yet again… Read more Read less

    I have been a loyal customer for over six years, but my recent experience with their customer service has been extremely disappointing. Without any prior... I have been a loyal customer for over six years, but my recent experience with their customer service has been extremely disappointing. Without any prior notice or explanation, my account was suddenly closed. When I contacted customer service to resolve the issue, the situation only deteriorated. The representatives I spoke to were not only unhelpful but also rude. Communication was frustratingly difficult, with one agent hanging up on me after a 30-minute conversation. To make matters worse, another representative provided me with incorrect information.     Avoid Barclays

    I have managed the Barclays accounts for two UK charities for over 16 years. With that experience, i can truly say the service is dreadful. Avoid -avoid -avoid.

    Extremely disappointed in Barclays . We made a duplicate payment to another bank on their instruction as we believed it didn’t go through so we... Extremely disappointed in Barclays . We made a duplicate payment to another bank on their instruction as we believed it didn’t go through so we asked Barclays if it had they said no and do it again . Next day both payments came out !!! We asked them to recall it , they did but the other bank didn’t respond and now Barclays say not there problem bye ! Disgusting service we are now down £1000 and they don’t even care we are a small business and this has crippled us due to their incompetence! Read more Read less

    Long term customer genuine feedback

    Been banking with them since childhood account. Have had generally good experience of their services, but would appreciate more support, advice and reward for long term custom.

    Terrible call centres, poor product selling points

    Was with Barclays for 15 years from a child to my first job. As an adult, I realised there was no benefit to being with... Was with Barclays for 15 years from a child to my first job. As an adult, I realised there was no benefit to being with them. Later when I had to have a mortgage with them, I opened a bank account. Their systems couldn't handle me having both a mortgage and a bank account with them, so my mortgage disappeared and couldn't be interacted with. Calling them was a nightmare, hard to get through, difficult to understand the agents, and they couldn't fix the problem. In store they worked directly with Barlcays IT department, but still couldn't fix the issue. In the end they set me up with a completely new profile. After a few years the new account wasn't giving me any benefits, so I closed the account... this then wiped my mortgage from the account again! I told them directly to set me up with a new profile as that had worked in the pass, so at least this time around the issue was fixed quicker. In general, they're also he worse bank for ethics and fossil fuels, so even as a basic single bank account, there's still issues. They are the only bank I will actively warn people to avoid.
