STILL WAITING AFTER MONTHS OF POLITE PROMISES

I have been a customer with Barclays Travel Insurance for over 15 years and have never made a claim. Barclays have even gone up in price and yet we kept up our monthly payments. My mother was suddenly taken into hospital for emergency surgery and so we had to cancel our Travel Plans. In all our claim only amounted to around £300. Despite this small amount Barclays are giving us the run around for months already. They claim they will deal with papers within 5 days. I am still waiting after a month of sending an additional document. They make you wait for ages on the phone and then politely inform you why they cannot assist and then make more promises which they do not keep. Reviewed on: 17th June 2025

I had problems with my travel pack insurance,went into the Eastbourne branch, and spoke to two female barclays agents in order to resolve my problem. One agent called Alison and the other agent Nickola, both of these agents were so helpful in resolving my problems, and I have to say both agents were so professional in sorting out my problems. Incompetent, unprofessional!

Incompetent, unprofessional and questionable customer service and dealings. Very slow and they procrastinate intentionally at the expense of customers. I have made a big mistake to ever sign up to this travel insurance. Reviewed on: 9th May 2025

Great customer service.

Been diagnosed with cancer and had to cancel our trip. Dil, the advisor on the phone could not have been more helpful. I unfortunately put the phone down before doing their survey so wanted to write how great they have been somewhere. He took all the details, our holiday provider refunded 70% so needed the other 30%. All sorted and money back in our account in 2 days. Thank you Dil for being so understanding. Reviewed on: 10th April 2025

Insurance a rip off

I spent $12,500 on a trip that I needed to cancel due to physical injury. I only put $5500 of that on my Barclay's mastercard. They refused to pay me because they said the entire trip had to be on my card. So they would have paid $12,500but not $5500! That is ridiculous baddies not make sense. They obviously just wanted an excuse not to pay. Reviewed on: 6th August 2024

Customer service is incompetent and it will cost you!!

Barclays Insurance has the wrong name for my partner on our insurance. They admit that it's wrong. They know that it invalidated my insurance if we have to file and claim despite the fact that they are very much collecting money for the policy. yet THEY WILL NOT CHANGE IT!!! Worst experience, worst bank

They have the worst claims method which takes forever and they use any reason not too support. I have had to make 2 claims and on both they denied. Then when I proved the initial denial against their own terms they found another reason to deny. This has happened on both of my claims which are reasonable and fair claims according to their terms. I would never recommend them. They were not supportive or helpful at all. Just asked for an email where they can find a way to deny your claim through your wording or lack thereof. I have been a Barclays customer for 4 decades and felt extremely confident having annual insurance with Barclays/Aviva. That was the case until I made a claim for a lost 24hrs of my holiday. The airline compensated delayed flight but said I should claim on my travel insurance for the loss of the day and night of my vacation. After almost a fortnight I received an email with OUTCOME OF CLAIM as subject. I was refused compensation with a lame excuse that my policy did not cover this. It’s the only policy they offer and surely travel insurance covers something which goes wrong on your travels. I have replied explaining that this is not acceptable and I have received no reply. I notice some 5 star reviews reflecting the sign up process. However, it’s the appalling treatment upon trying to make a claim which deserves one or no stars. Disgusted and will leave. I like them as a bank - But don't expect any help from their travel insurance.

I only tried to use this service once, when we were given incorrect ferry times by SailRail from Dublin to Holyhead - So had to stay overnight in Dublin. Barclays travel insurance simply threw their example wording at me, and essentially said "go away". I've used various travel insurance companies before and never had an issue in the rare moment of a claim. As such, I've spent days finding out which rail company is responsible (none of them apparently). NOTE that we were told by Irish Ferries that SailRail have been providing the incorrect ferry times for months! Be warned, and check them before travelling. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023
