Do not trust Barclays - what a bunch of dodgy people. They have mislead me with travel insurance. I was of the fair belief that she was covered - this travel insurance policy I have held for several years, I pay for it monthly out of my pension. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and mislead - and they wonder why nobody trusts Banks and Insurance companies. I have today been informed (trapped in Australia due to the Corona Virus shutting down airlines), that my policy is not valid for my trip and I am (surprise) uninsured. I have tried to work through this with the phone support who is a 'computer says no' person and rather than working with me to identify a solution is quick to inform me that it is not their problem. I asked to be escalated, yes 'all managers are unavailable at the moment', I request to hold, then the line goes dead - or he hung up. So sad that a company that spends so much on clever marketing to convince us they care about their customers and to trust them, simply can't be trusted. Reviewed on: 25th March 2020

Appalling service!!

Tried to contact Barclays and Aviva to change some details, spent two days before they offered a call-back which did not happen. Tried to contact them again four days later and with no help from Barclays and waiting on a phone to Aviva for hours have still not updated the account!!! Reviewed on: 4th March 2020

Barclays covers the lot

I don’t usually travel abroad, but when I unexpectedly was given the chance to go to Iceland (not the freezer store!), Dubai & the Maldives I was very relieved to discover my travel insurance from Barclays was already in situ. Great to have that box ticked! Thank goodness for Barclays.... Reviewed on: 29th January 2020

Complaint process non existent

I have currently had cause to start a formal complaint process with Aviva who administer travel insurance with our Barclays account. Despite writing to them 3-4 weeks ago with all my concerns and a follow up email to my contact at Aviva, I have heard nothing. I am disgusted with their lack of customer service. Three Hours Later

Poor value service

I had a claim where the outbound flight was cancelled because of snow. The insurance paid for the hotel for the 3 nights, but wouldn't pay for the cost of travel down and back to the airport, a distance of some 200 miles each way. They said that I wasn't entitled because the flight was only cancelled after I got to the airport and because I was down there already I would still have had to drive back. Suffice to say that I was not happy and they took £100 off the claim for administration! Reviewed on: 29th June 2019

Helpful and very efficient.

On a family holiday in Sa Coma, Majorca when we had need to use our insurance cover for the first time ever. My wife had to go to the on-site medical centre after hurting her foot and was advised she had a probable fracture. She contacted Barclays and they explained the whole process and supplied a reference number. We were told that there was the 55 Euro excess to pay but then all other medical bills were sorted directly by Barclays - unlike many other insurers that only let you try to claim back later. By the time we got to the (excellent) private hospital in Alcudia, Barclays had contacted them and had everything arranged. On our return my wife phoned up to go through all the receipts for taxis, wheelchair hire etc. and they assured us that all the money would be back in our account within a week. We found it most telling that whenever a healthcare professional asked us who we were insured with, they always breathed a sigh of relief when we answered Barclays. We were told of an incident a few years ago when a woman had a burst appendix but was not allowed treatment at the nearest (private) hospital as her insurance did not cover her and the hospital did not see it as an emergency! We were taken directly to a private hospital with no fuss at all and on both occasions we had to go we were dealt with very efficiently and hardly missed any 'holiday time'. Worst travel insurance by Barclays

Worst insurance ever!!! Don’t be fooled by reviews that talk about experiences people had when they took the insurance. I was as fooled as everyone else. I was so proud of this insurance and even told friends about it..but after a medical emergency while on a plane to a holiday which led me to being hospitalised for such a long while, Barclays treated me as if I deserved totally nothing. My claim took 7 months to process and I had to relive the terrible experiences I had. I even wished I didn’t claim at all. I felt completely demoralised and broken to bits. I was even made to pay further costs to help facilitate my claim or else as I was told, my claim wouldn’t go further. I was so intimidated. My doctors provided every bit of information and Barclays simply didn’t care. My costs increasingly became more than the cost of my claim eventually I was worse off financially after I started claiming. Most tearful experience ever. Reviewed on: 11th February 2019
