Admiral - The Good Guys!

I've had annual travel insurance with Admiral for several years now and have never had any issues when it comes to renewal time and their prices are good, suiting our various declared medical conditions. This year I lost my father in May, just a week before I was due to go on an all-inclusive holiday to Rhodes. I cancelled the holiday within a couple of days of losing Dad with BA, who refunded me £1,200. They didn't even ask why I was cancelling, nor did they give me the option to reschedule. Basically, I was out of pocket by over £1,650 and, what with the funeral and dealing with my grief, I didn't even think to make a claim on the insurance. At the end of August, when I received a quote for my early September renewal, I thought I'd give Admiral a call. After a short wait (which is amazing these days, as you seem to have to wait an hour or more to get through to any company!), I spoke with a very empathetic chap who suggested I go through the website, as I needed to provide proof of the booking, payment and death certificate. I did all this as directed. The online form was very easy to fill in and attach the items required, and I was advised it would take around 20 working days. True to their word, they processed my case considerably quicker than their own estimate and have confirmed they are paying out £1,500 (as there's a £150 excess). This was such an easy experience, especially considering I thought I wouldn't get anything back at all having left it three months before making my claim. Thank you, Admiral, for being so "human" about my loss and not dragging out the process or adding to my grief or stress. I will definitely be recommending Admiral to many others! Great customer service

Don't use!

Don't use! Would give no stars if I could. Had to cancel my holiday due to my mother having a stroke. Submitted all the required documentation on 19th June - told my claim would be processed in 20 days. 2 months later I've been told they are still processing the claim. No reason given. Told I would have to wait 3days to have an update and for someone in the complaints team to get back to me. Reviewed on: 17th August 2026

Bereavement

Been with admiral for a few years and never had to claim. Unfortunately in June I had to cancel my holiday, due to bereavement. Should have been an easy process, death certificate, holiday booking, cancellation of booking, everything needed was sent. At a time when you already have so much to organise, plus the grief, Admiral failed. I have an annual policy, but absolutely no way will I renew with them, I have lost faith in them completely. MEDICAL EMERGENCY IN A JAPANESE AMBULANCE AND COULD NOT CONTACT ADMIRAL TRAVEL INSURANCE!: I wish to raise an urgent complaint. Since June when I took your travel insurance policy out, the expensive premium one, I have been unable to register or gain access via the app. I have tried several times and although admiral sent me the one time passcode, the same error message keeps occurring. : 1015/400 This is not on, I had a medical emergency in Tokyo yesterday and thought I was taking a stroke. A passerby called me an ambulance. And the whole time I could not make contact with you, blurry vision the lot, low blood pressure. I had to refuse a hospital because I couldn’t get you. I’d like this rectified immediately and get me access to my policy and app. What is the problem with it ? Create a password. Read the Terms and Conditions. Done .
