Do NOT use this appalling company

1
Had to abandon a week's break in May 23, due to partners I'll health. My claim has been reduced by the excess and then halved,, ignoring that I had made payment for our trip.. Now my partner has to make his own claim and will also be deducted his excess for the same trip. This seems a totally unreasonable way of being compensated in my opinion. Great cover for little money

In 2022 I purchased an annual travel insurance for myself and husband. I had a major health scare so did some shopping around for best price, already being an admiral customer I was given a 20% discount from the quoted price, this price beat all others hands down. I renewed my policy again for this year as again I was offered a 25% discount for being an existing customer. Have to say they are the best. Reviewed on: 17th August 2023

Stolen items, but policy wording smartly worded to reject payouts

1
Had items stolen when on holiday on the beach, they gave a reasoning of items being “unattended”, and their policy wording has the word defined as something completely different to what it actually means. Rejected my claim twice, changing the reasoning the second time round because I discredited the first reasoning. Then had a manager call me to explain the rejection and all she could do was apologise. Smart company to get out of paying claims, so be careful how you word yours otherwise be prepared to not receive a penny. Reviewed on: 15th August 2023

NEVER AGAIN

1
I would never deal with this company again. They use delay tactics to put you off..ask you to ring and then say you can't be put directly through to claims..the send another e mail asking you to ring..and round and round we go. The simplest of claims can't be dealt with as they don't want to oay out. Absolute garbage comoany Reviewed on: 14th August 2023

Waste of money!

My luggage was lost and never found. I’ve claimed from Admiral who have asked for more and more information( having already said they won’t pay out for jewellery or cash). Now after chasing them again, they want photos, receipts or copies of bank statements to prove what was in my case! That’s ridiculous, I wasn’t aware I should take photos of me wearing every item before travelling or that I could only claim for items bought recently( let’s be honest, our holiday clothes are acquired over several years, not newly purchased every year). So not only was my holiday ruined, but my insurance company is making unreasonable demands to prove my claim, so unfair and upsetting. Reviewed on: 14th August 2023

The death of one parent and hospitalisation of the other still not enough!

1
In Dec 2022 I booked a holiday for Feb 23. At the time my mum was having treatment for breast cancer and responding well. Sadly she deteriorated very quickly and passed away mid Jan. A week later my dad was admitted to hospital with what we thought was a heart attack, but turned out to be broken heart syndrome. There was no way I could leave him, so I cancelled the holiday and claimed on my insurance. My claim was initially declined because mum had a pre-existing condition, even though plenty of people fight and beat breast cancer, and when I booked the holiday it hadn't spread, so the secondary cancer was not pre-existing. However, I appealed the decision on the basis my dad had been hospitalised. Today I was told that because my dad was diagnosed with angina in 2005, his hospitalisation was also due to a pre-existing condition and the claim is still denied. In the 18 years since dad was diagnosed, he's never had a single issue with angina. So be warned people, if any of your loved ones have a condition that they have lived with for nearly 20 years, don't book a holiday - just in case it gets worse! Admiral's attitude of "that's just how our policy is worded" is just an excuse to wriggle out of paying what is a genuine claim. I wanted to go on that holiday, I didn't want my mum to suddenly deteriorate and pass away, I didn't want my dad to be admitted to hospital with a broken heart. Their absolute refusal to acknowledge that these were extenuating circumstances has made the most stressful time of my life so much worse. All I can do now is put in a complaint, but on the basis they take 30 working days to respond to any correspondence, it'll be 2024 before this matter is resolved. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
