Poor service and any excuse not to pay

After 3 months of back and forth and finally a formal complaint, they are still useless. My flight was cancelled due to a strike, I submitted the evidence from the airport confirming this but because the airline stated "operational reason" they used that as an excuse to ignore all the other evidence and reject the claim. Disgraceful. They should be hauled in front of court. They failed to pay out on my insurance claim. 2.5 years later after a protracted small claims process, their lawyer, Blake Morgan, eventually paid out on their behalf. AXA are refusing to pay my claim for having to cancel my holiday due to a fractured shoulder - and the reason is... I had a rash on my toe 18 months ago!!! Avoid this company at all costs. You will just waste your money if you insure with them as they will attempt to use every excuse as to why they don’t have to pay out and you will end up fighting them for months for them still to refuse to payout. They are an excuse of an insurance company. My flight took off and landed back in the original destination and was subsequently cancelled and a new flight scheduled for the next day resulting in me being unable to travel. They refused to payout as I departed but never made it to the destination through no fault of my own and incurring hotel costs. Reviewed on: 4th March 2025

1 star is too generous! Stay away from AXA insurance for any form of insurance. I have a yearly travel insurance policy with them and unfortunately due to being hospitalised with early pregnancy sickness in June I was unable to go on holiday. Despite providing all of the original evidence requested including a medical certificate from the hospital, proof of cancelled accommodation and flight changes they still haven't processed my claim nearly 6 months later. I am heavily pregnant and out hundreds of pounds. Every time I have made contact with them they have requested further information, which I have provided. They have just been in touch again today to ask for even more information (new information that is apparently needed that hasn't been mentioned up until now). It seems they are doing everything in their power to avoid paying out for a genuine claim that is meant to be covered on the policy. Extremely poor service, waiting weeks and months between calls for a response. Please avoid at all costs. Reviewed on: 26th November 2024

Very poor service, dont no what they are talking about in relation to pdf/screenshots, dont no about nhs app and name on documents. Pay you compensation when you have not accepted it and wont answer emails explaining why they put it in your bank account after. Reviewed on: 8th October 2024

Unacceptable timeframes, poor communication

Very poor service with slow response and investigation times. My claim is watertight, an emergency surgery following a visit to A&E where a bowel at imminent risk of rupture was identified, leading to same day surgery with subsequent cancer diagnosis, necessitating chemotherapy. Planned holiday cancelled. Claim made for flights and doctor's letter only, as other arrangements cancelled, with full refund. Four months later, still waiting for settlement as the case is "complex and deserves diligent evaluation". Utter rubbish, I'll be making a complaint to the ombudsman. Day 3 of waiting for a promised return call when dealing with a family bereavement whilst away. Never speak to the same person twice, promise of action & nothing happens. Have made a horrific ordeal even worse.. Shocking Reviewed on: 5th September 2024

AXA paid my claim but it took too long

AXA paid my claim in full for the holiday I had to cancel because of illness. However it took almost three months to resolve. The quality of customer service varied. There was a prompt pick up when I called but not everyone was as helpful as I would have hoped. Reviewed on: 22nd August 2024
