One of the worst bank companies in the world, with t...

One of the worst bank companies in the world, with the worst customer service, which uses off shore people who don't know you and don't care and are collecting a pay check. The information they give you is slighted towards their own ends, meaning you will never get a proper answer to any question you have. I have been on 5 calls today, and every one of them was tedious, long and they are on their internal social media to learn how to 'handle' you. I have worked in these centres before and this the way you are treated, poorly and without proper responses to any question you ask in regards to a complaint response. They wanted the remedy for a mistake to go to my card, instead of my account. Who is responsible for this, the CEO, CFO, CIO and the COO who use the system to deny you a fair hearing. They wouldn't even let me speak to a manager. ============ As of Friday I was called by a manager who said there would be a mutually acceptable resolution by Wednesday. This did not happen and both call centre staff members said there were no notes about this refund into my Barclay's bank account. No email was sent about the agreement either. CLOSED ACCOUNT BECAUSE I WOULD’T DO BALANCE TRANSFER

My account was paid off. They sent me letter asking me to do a balance transfer. I declined and they closed my account. I asked why didn’t I receive any notice of them closing the account and they lied and said they did. However, I never received any letter regarding closing the account. It was ONLY TO DO A BALANCE TRANSFER. RUN! Reviewed on: 10th October 2026

Dreadful scam checking options and crashing.

1) The options to get past scam checking are dreadful. Imagine you want to pay for physiotherapy. There is no option to select "Received goods or service fine" and you wish to pay money you now owe which is probably 90% of the time. Instead you have to pretend you are paying family or a trades person etc. Awful. 2) Time and again going through this process, the system crashes with "Error 20000. Try again later" or similar. That means trying another day. No good if you are travelling or need to pay urgently. Reviewed on: 11th September 2026

My experience with Barclays has been fairly average, and while the current account itself works and provides the basic services I need, I wouldn’t say it is the best banking option available. One of my biggest disappointments is the savings rates, which I feel are quite poor compared with what other banks and building societies are currently offering. If I’m keeping money in a savings account, I expect to receive a competitive rate, but Barclays doesn’t always seem to offer particularly attractive returns. Customer service has also been inconsistent. On some occasions, staff have been helpful and professional, but there have also been times when getting assistance has felt frustrating and unnecessarily difficult. Responses can sometimes take longer than expected, and I feel that certain issues could be handled more efficiently. The Barclays app and online banking are generally useful and make it easy to manage everyday transactions, check balances and move money around. However, good digital banking alone doesn’t make up for poor savings rates or inconsistent customer service. Overall, I would describe my experience with Barclays as okay rather than excellent. I haven’t had a completely terrible experience, but I also don’t feel particularly impressed or loyal to the bank. I think Barclays could improve significantly by offering more competitive savings rates, providing more consistent customer service and making it easier for customers to resolve problems quickly. For someone simply looking for a basic current account, Barclays can do the job, but if you are looking for strong savings options and consistently excellent customer support, I think there are better alternatives available. Immediately stopped a fraudulent payment.

Immediately stopped a fraudulent payment. Very helpful on the phone and cancelled my card and ensured that the fraudsters had no access to my account. Really put my mind at ease as it was a small payment that I might not have noticed otherwise. Reviewed on: 14th June 2026
