Available but not suited for Great Britain

Despite being the same bank as Natwest/RBS, their account opening forms were decades behind, very ugly and clunky. One with them the app and linked saving accounts were great. In time there was better options elsewhere so I decided to close my account. But I had opened the account from England. Natwest have limited powers over the account in branch. Over the phone I tried closing it, only to be told; could I go to Ireland to close the account... Eventually we closed the account via a handwritten letter to branch as advised by Natwest. Same as opening, it was clunky, but is a viable option for savers to get more than one reg saver. Reviewed on: 9th September 2024

Useless!

Aside from their good interest rates, avoid this bank unless you want to deal with people you can't get through to via telephone or chat, are not helpful or knowledgeable and you don't want to be able to access or transfer any money. Horrendous bank

I have recently opened a current account and started an account switch but only had a customer number, debit card and activation code so I called them to find out how to set up online banking. 3 hours later after speaking to 8 different people, being cut off 3 times and lodging a complaint I still cannot access online banking. The staff don't care, the system to set up a pin number does not work and after being cut off now 3 times I'm at my wits end and wish I'd never bothered joint them. I've lodged a complaint and will be contacting FSCS next Reviewed on: 14th June 2023

Ulster in India

Ulster in India 10 weeks waiting to close an account, not closed yet, after the usual frustration they tell me that they have farmed out this simple process to a guy in India, so be patient as the Indian company may have further subcontracted this simple process of closing my account, as of now my deposit is nowhere to be seen and I am at a loss, do not trust Ulster. DO NOT JOIN DO NOT JOIN! Sent an international transfer of £2000.00 and they have froze my payment requesting more information. I provided this information over 30 days ago and they still have not released the funds. Customer service is useless, and this is what happens when you underpay your staff. No one from the international team will talk with me, I just have to accept that my hard earned money has been kept and there is nothing I can do about it. Reviewed on: 4th April 2022
