The worst bank I have ever used.

When I opened a savings account, it took many days before I could access the account (other banks I have used usually allow almost instant access). I was repeatedly lied to about how long it would take for me to be able to deposit money - the customer service is terrible. When it came to getting money out the website wanted me to use a card (which I had not been given) with a card reader (which I had not been given). Trying to get help, I was again lied to repeatedly. The moronic chat app didn't have a clue what I was asking, then when I eventually spoke to a human they told me to ring someone to make a transfer. The person I rang was not able to do the transfer, and the person I communicated with via the chat app kept telling me to use the app. Eventually I gave in and downloaded the app, but even it does not let you access more than £750. The app is terrible - many features do not work, and several times the app reset and I had to start over. Easy-access bank accounts I have had with other banks allow easy transfer to your nominated bank account within the same day - it seems like I will be waiting until later next week before I can get access to my Ulster bank savings. They lost MY £1,100 wire transfer AGAIN!

Yet again Ulsterbank have lost an international transfer. This is not the first time. Check my reviews. They are incapable of receiving international wires, despite my Investment bank in the US providing endless information, proof, and support on the matter. Unless you literally want thousands of pounds of your money to vanish into thin air with Ulsterbank doing absolutely nothing about it, then I would AVOID this bank! I made the mistake of staying with them, NEVER AGAIN! Read more Read less

Despite being the same bank as Natwest/RBS, their account opening forms were decades behind, very ugly and clunky. One with them the app and linked saving accounts were great. In time there was better options elsewhere so I decided to close my account. But I had opened the account from England. Natwest have limited powers over the account in branch. Over the phone I tried closing it, only to be told; could I go to Ireland to close the account... Eventually we closed the account via a handwritten letter to branch as advised by Natwest. Same as opening, it was clunky, but is a viable option for savers to get more than one reg saver. Read more Read less

    Personal experience with ulsterbank

I was re-mortgaging for the 3rd time and was dealt with a wonderful caring person called Sinead and she made the entire experience so easy and explained everything wonderfully that made me feel incredibly happy to stay as a ulsterbank mortgage customer. She not only put my mind at easy with costs but her whole personality and professionalism was amazing and she brought a caring and fun experience. Sinead was not only wonderful to deal with but she has went abouve and beyond as I receive a bunch of flowers on my door step which I found so personal that she remembered who I was and I cannot recommend not only herself to deal with but choosing Ulsterbank as they clearly have wonderful staff to help their customers and any new customers. I highly recommend to anyone looking to mortgage to choose ulsterbank! Read more Read less
