My experience with Barclays has been fairly average, and while the current account itself works and provides the basic services I need, I wouldn’t say it is the best banking option available. One of my biggest disappointments is the savings rates, which I feel are quite poor compared with what other banks and building societies are currently offering. If I’m keeping money in a savings account, I expect to receive a competitive rate, but Barclays doesn’t always seem to offer particularly attractive returns. Customer service has also been inconsistent. On some occasions, staff have been helpful and professional, but there have also been times when getting assistance has felt frustrating and unnecessarily difficult. Responses can sometimes take longer than expected, and I feel that certain issues could be handled more efficiently. The Barclays app and online banking are generally useful and make it easy to manage everyday transactions, check balances and move money around. However, good digital banking alone doesn’t make up for poor savings rates or inconsistent customer service. Overall, I would describe my experience with Barclays as okay rather than excellent. I haven’t had a completely terrible experience, but I also don’t feel particularly impressed or loyal to the bank. I think Barclays could improve significantly by offering more competitive savings rates, providing more consistent customer service and making it easier for customers to resolve problems quickly. For someone simply looking for a basic current account, Barclays can do the job, but if you are looking for strong savings options and consistently excellent customer support, I think there are better alternatives available.
