I complained to the Ombudsman. Waste of time, just told me to sort it out with the bank. Rang many times, wrote, e-mailed, threatened to sue. They replied with some silly jargon that did not make sense. Did not address my issues at all. I think I solved the problem myself by telling them I no longer had a mobile phone. ALL ONLINE TRANSACTIONS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT AUTOMATICALLY ARE REFERRED TO THE MOBILE FOR CONFIRMATION. Now they go do go through. Also changed my statements back from paperless.

Been with Barclays with one business with a TO of 5m a year and wanting to bring my new business over to them. Trying to open an account has been the headache from hell.

Opening the account took weeks to do. No reader received and still waiting for one so i can do things online. 9th April I applied for the account!!!!

I now have a GBP account, so wanting to open a Dollar account, but can't be done over the phone. Have to wait for the welcome pack I have never received. Beyond a joke. I have suppliers wanting me to pay bills, I have dollars waiting to come into my account, but can't.

Mortgage with them too - seriously thinking about moving everything away from them. Never had problems until all this mess.

Following unexpected charges on my business account, by the way, this isn't happening the first time, finally got some time to make a phone call and log a complaint. You just cannot log an official complaint with over the phone, you'll be on hold listening to music forever, then passed from one to another operator everyone telling you 'Oh is not me, I'll pass you through to the relevant person', they never do. They'll simply waste your time till you give up!

Went into my local branch to pay in money for my son, since I didn't have paying in book thought bank statement would be sufficient, how wrong was I. The lady on the counter spent the whole time giving me alternative methods of paying in money that basically didn't involve her doing her job e.g me paying it into my account which is with another bank and transferring it across, you name it she suggested it. After me pointing out I was standing opposite her ready to pay money in she did it. Surely with banks closing on high street every day Barclays staff would appreciate their custom.

Good service when things are OK.
The telephone business dsupport is hopeless. The people do not understand English. They cannot help because they are not trained to do their job. All they do is to transfer you to someone equally incompetent.

Good banking service when things are working. Just pray that you never need help. You won't get it.

THEY ARE AWFUL. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS BANK. THE INDIANS ARE INCOMPREHENSIBLE

The bank from hell. Want to buy things online? Expect 50% of them to be rejected by Barclays. Try running a business with them, it is impossible, they will not process the payments to suppliers. HATE THEM 100% AVOID THIS COMPANY.

How Barclays can expect any small business to bank with them when their system is unreliable. An unreliable system for any business is bad enough but unacceptable for a banking system dealing with money. In the past 18 months here are just some of the problems:
- three times the text alerts for funds below £X have been removed from the accounts with no notice or explanation
- we moved office 18 months ago, updated the address on the account, bank letters still sent to the old address a year later, checekd the onlien system, address read okay, bank call centre updated system and confirmed updated address, six months messages are arriving that letters from the back are being returned unknown at previous address and yet all the business and private addresses on the banking interface are showing our current address?
- messages take forever to be responded to online
- crucially when making payments online they sometimes don't show until the next day on the balance of the account so we have no idea whose payments have gone through and whose have not.

I have been running a (small) business account at Barclays for a number of years - I rarely have to go into a branch, and most transactions are done on the internet. So far so good. However I've had three instances when I've been locked out of my account for no reason, and unable to transact. When I've called customer services to sort out and get me back online they have absolutely failed. They've made promises - 48 hrs and you'll be back online - Didn't happen. On every occasion I've had to go into a branch to transact. My most recent incident has been ongoing for two weeks, and I'm still having to go into a branch to transact - useless. Now finally I've decided to bite the bullet and find another online bank

I'm based in Ireland and the solution barclays had when they Accidentally closed our online banking was every time i needed to use our account to get on a plane and do it in person. Customer service was absolutely useless. For two months we've been without access and have basically told tough luck, we dont have a department that is designed to fix your specific problem - even though they admitted it was their fault.

The account manager was very knowledgeable and gave us all the info we needed and set up all the accounts we needed for our business. We were very impressed and the online banking facility is fantastic and occasionally we need help and there is always a friendly member of staff available to assist

Barclays Business Banking

Barclays made it easy for me and set up my business banking account in 4 working days. Everything was laid out and explained perfectly including how to access my account from the app. Really happy with their friendly and professional service.

SME - Lack of service
