Threats to close the account so I have to spend 2 hours on the phone twice!!!

Had to provide some 'more information' about my company (we have banked with barclays for over 50 years) and are instructed to reply within 10 days or the account gets closed. I understand that we have to comply with the latest money laundering regulations but this service is absolutely utterly shocking - well its not a service really. After a barrage of text messages, emails, and app messages asking me to contact them - getting cut off, and further waiting - after 2 hours on the phone with some godawful music its difficult to remain objective. I realise the phone operator has no control over the ridiculous waiting times but really? After closing most of our high street banks this is what we are left with - hours of complete boredom on the phone, because obviously, I've got nothing else better to do. Bloody awful

I don't know where to start. I've been a personal customer for 30 years, and set up a business account with them in 2022. I've always been in credit and my business is profitable. The experience with Barclays has been awful. They closed their local branch within weeks of my opening my account, leaving the nearest brannch more than 20 miles aways. An overdraft application has taken months to progress, despite having an offer made in the post in June. I'm being ghosted and ignored by the business banking team, who are simply unable to help. Considering other options as am fed up with chasing. This is not the 'hassle free' experience they spend millions of pounds selling to people. It feels like a mess, and they've lost me for good. Dreadful, just dreadful!

I simply cannot make regular payments to people because Barclays system removes Trusted payees on a weekly basis for no reason whatsove!!!! Nightmare when trying to process payroll and regular supplier payments - which, lets face it, that's what businesses do!!. No help whatsoever using their useless CHAT service. Business Accounts The worst!

I have Accounts since 1969 and Later a Limited company account in credit by tens of thousands. They asked for business details of the director etc then wrote to me saying they need additional information within 30 days or they will close my accounts. I have tried to call the number on several occasions but have been put on hold for ages. Once I got connected and got cut off in the middle of drawn out vetting procedure. As a precaution I am having to open an account with another Bank.and as a share holder in Barclays I am not taking this lying down!!! Reviewed on: 20th December 2022

Terrible! Do NOT open a business acc with Barclays

I am an existing Barclays personal customer. I applied for a business bank account in early November and it's now December. I’ve spoken to dozens of different customer service agents over the course of the last few weeks to obtain my new business account details but to no avail! Every time spoke to someone I got new conflicting information! Weeks later, I still haven’t been able to obtain my business account details as Barclays business department are so inept! My customers are unable to pay for my servies simply because I can’t give them the bank account details which I do not have! Worst customer service from a bank I've experienced. Repeatedly let down from promises and made things very very difficult! Very painful experience over the phone, for someone to just take a message and pass it along to someone else. DO NOT USE BARCLAYS! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! Do not open a business account with these absolute jokers! DO NOT DEAL WITH BARCLAY BUSINESS!! The customer service people I have spoken to just give out incorrect information! It took an hour to lodge a complaint today on the phone! Business manager TRISTAN BARDEN is an absolute incompetent joker who ignores your emails and phone calls. Absolutely disappointed in your customer service. Barclays Business Mandate team

I am treasurer at a local church and from time to time need to get new people on or off our business account. The level of incompetence I've encountered with the Barclays Change Mandate Team is beyond anything I've ever experienced. The change process to bring on new people is stated to take 10 working days. I've so far experienced two occasions of three months and this year an incredible six months. Firstly you have to call them and that takes around 45 minutes just to get through. The robot will talk about exceptional call volumes but that ain't true because it's been like that for two years. When you do speak to a member of the team they will speak with authority, be very polite and get it totally wrong. So you ring back a month later and someone will tell you that they need something else (more signatures, more verification, whatever). 'We're sorry, but the first person got it wrong'. You follow through with that until the next occasion when you have to ring again only to find something else that's wrong. That something else might require an additional visit to a branch. If you can find one and have the time to go there, wait and finally be served by someone who knows less that the Change Mandate Team; then they may get it wrong too. The Barclays Change Mandate Team don't get in touch with you. They don't know their own processes. I assume no-one is trained in them. Certainly their processes were poorly written and never, ever tested. The six month's timescale I referred to above was not six month's of simply waiting. It was six months that included multiple visits to branch, half a dozen LONG phone calls and receipt of obscure meaningless letters from Barclays that worsened already muddied waters. The Barclays Change Mandate Team have zero consideration for their customers. I wonder if in the reverse situation they would like to be treated like this. Reviewed on: 26th October 2022

No access to customer service

I have a KYC form to fill in or else my account will be closed. Do it online the letter says. I go online. Can't do that here it says, you need to call. Try to call. Wait times 30 minutes plus I am told. Still sitting here 85mins later being lectured that the person who answers the call isn't responsible. So who is responsible Barclays Senior Leadership? How do you justify this poor level of service where nothing joins up, If you are looking for a business bank - look elsewhere Reviewed on: 17th October 2022
