Great mortgage application

I recently applied for a mortgage with Barclays, the application was quick and easy and the advisor that dealt with my application was helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. My application was accepted quickly, a stress free process. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

First time mortgage

I got my first mortgage last year and the process was very smooth, I was offered a great deal which suits my needs and have felt confident in the service I’ve was given. Overall a great service. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Shared Ownership Mortgage

Excellent experience obtaining a mortgage for my shared ownership property with Barclays, very competitive interest rates and option to extend the balance over a very long period (35 years) to ensure maximum affordability. Reviewed on: 17th April 2025

Do not use Barcleys, not to be trusted

Got a redemption value to pay mortgage off 11th December, paid within one hour, App showed all correctly, then Barcleys took another direct debit on 19th, and the whole system has now spoilt Christmas new year everything, the customer services can do nothing and as with all banks the decision makers are hiding behind the phones. They nearly cost me my flat, and moving out of home

Sadly my first home was above shops, so limited me in choices of companies. Barclays was the cheapest of the two options. Whilst arranging a mortgage, the whole home purchase process ground to a halt. Barclays were not progressing the mortgage application. It took me, the estate agents, several friends, both sides solicitors, the developer and my mortgage advisor calling them non-stop for 4 days, to eventually get through to someone. Barclays had asked for my flats Royal Mail address, and the address including floor number (which we don't use in the UK). These didn't match and they silently stopped progressing my mortgage as these two different addresses, that they asked for, didn't match. I was incredibly stressed and depressed that my chance to move out of home was on the line, as there wasn't much time left to exchange. Later after thankfully moving in, I opened a bank account with them, but this hid my mortgage account and I couldn't pay my mortgage. They had to wipe my profile and rebuild everything. And when I later closed the account a few years later, my mortgage disappeared again... Finally part redemption mortgage overpayments with them require a separate payment of 3x your mortgage cost. This made overpaying them a slow process. I have never been so angered and upset by any other company. Reviewed on: 4th September 2024

Helpful banking

Good product very friendly very helpful and answer all queries. Easy easy to move from one product to another and re-mortgage. Easy to track on the app as well. Reviewed on: 24th May 2024

10 YEAR CUSTOMER GOING STRONG

I have been a barclays customer for nearly 10 years and never had any issues. They are really reliable and offered a great fixed term contract when we got our mortgage loan at 21 with a very basic credit score. Overpayment are easy to do and the app is really easy to navigate. Customer service chats are efficient and recieve response time is really quick. I have used many other services through barclays such as loans and all have been quick and easy to use Reviewed on: 22nd March 2024
