Shocking service great while your paying

While paying and getting mortgage I would give 11 out of 10 easy n helpful. Paying mortgage off at end shocking service. Phoned 3 times given different information plus even a letter giving wrong information. Sent me a letter back to contact them .2 hours 20 minutes in queue. Mind I'm in complaints gave person reference number absolutely no interest and asked why I was phoning. Asked to speak to someone else .put me on hold meant to wait another 90 minutes. Traumatic experience with Barclays mortgage

I applied for a mortgage from Barclays as a first time buyer. The experience has been horrendous and thanks to its very incompetent mortgage team I'm going to lose the property. The seller is fed up with the length of time this is taking when my solicitor sent all the paperwork related to the survey of the house around the 15th of Feb. Two months down the line this hasn't been sectioned. A complaint has been put through and even the complaint department didn't botherered to give me a ring when it was agreed through a text message. The stress and upset this is causing me is beyond belief. An absolute lack of respect to a customer. Never use Barclays as your lender Reviewed on: 13th April 2022

Appalling Customer service from Barclays

Appalling customer service from Barclays Bank. As a current customer I was told I could port my mortgage at my current rate, and refund my earlier payment fee of nearly £8000, following the sale of my previous home. Due to their horrendous customer service the 90 day period elapsed and have now had to remortgage costing me an extra £200 a month and losing over £8000. I am now 8 weeks down the line applying for a new mortgage and still no final offer, no feedback and when I managed to speak to them, my case has been passed around to 4 different advisors and a manager. The most recent excuse was they had lost the valuation, then when they managed to find it, there were IT issues attaching this to my case, with another further 3 weeks delay. I am now facing losing my property as the sellers are sick of hearing the different excuses and in such a competitive markets, this will probably cost me more money to find a new one.. The stress and upset is beyond belief. Can I suggest no one uses Barclay bank, as I now have no where to live due to short term rental running out and if this doesn’t complete, it will have cost me thousands!! If anyone from Barclays Senior leadership teams see’s this comment please help me!!!! If I lose my property the next steps are to seek legal advice and seek compensation. Appalling customer service, communications and mortgage process

Barclays Mortgages seem to attract either 5* or 1* reviews; it’s down to luck as to whether your mortgage application goes through a competent or incompetent mortgage team. My application for a 18% LTV fixed rate mortgage should have taken just 5 days on a fast track route; 7 weeks later it is still sitting with the underwriter. Try as he might, my broker cannot get a coherent answer from Barclays as to the cause of the delay. One day he’ll be told it’s a technical issue, but the next person he deals with says it is not. My seller is so fed up with the lack of progress that he is threatening to remarket the property to someone who can proceed immediately Of note, Barclays is the only mainstream lender not to have a phone line to a responsible individual; all communication is by email or web chat, with the respondents being based in India. My experience so far, is of a lender with an incompetent team who simply don’t care. This is the second time in 6 years that I have attempted to get a Barclays mortgage, but the last time I will be let down in this way. I fully expect to lose the property we have been waiting 9 months to buy, solely due to Barclays’ incompetence and disinterest. My advice is not to be tempted by Barclays low interest rate, but instead, apply to the next best lender. Reviewed on: 21st March 2022

Fair interest, friendly service

As a first time buyer, we expected to pay a higher interest rate so were pleasantly surprised with our offer from Barclays. The mortgage process was completely straight forward and all completed quickly. I had to call to change our bank details and the customer service agent was extremely helpful and polite.
