Good Foxed rate mortgage

I've used Barclays for over 25 years. They have good: - online access - telephone support - personal loans - mortgages - high street branches All which I have and used. Reviewed on: 5th November 2019

Evil & calculating institution

I hav gave no stars because - having banked with Barclays for 30 years, borrowed & repaid them thousands of pounds without 1 late payment, my experience of the mortgage application made me feel physically sick. They had me on the phone for nearly 2 hours - I was only looking for a small mortgage- despite them having good mortgage deals on the net they eventually offered me a rate a quarter more than them rates & after asking me what my budget was they made sure eventually that they took me right up to the top of my budget. They are sneaky snakes & I would advise avoiding them where mortgages are concerned. Reviewed on: 4th November 2019

Complete waste of time and money, will promise the world and then withdraw last minute

Do take note of the poor reviews, I can assure people that they are well founded. We were approved after formal application and valuation was complete. Then the underwriters changed their mind. Have lost my dream house due to their incompetence. Reviewed on: 6th June 2019

NEVER get a barclays mortgage

I transferred my mortgage to Barclays, that part was easy, every other step has been horrifically painful. Logging into the account is painful, speaking to someone (with their six security questions) has been painful. Paying my mortgage off so I dont have to speak to them again has been painful. Im a normal person with a normal mortgage, nothing special, I would actively recommend against taking a mortgage out with Barclays/Woolwich. Reviewed on: 28th April 2019

Bank not transparent with their lending criteria

The bank did not disclose at the outset what type of property they would not lend on. Basically if their surveyor did not like the decor then he would give a bad report and the bank would not lend. All this and 4 months of them faffing about with the application and having told us its 99% certain that they would lend us the finance, and we had spent money on legal fees, private surveys etc based on their assurances. Five star service

As a first time buyer, I felt completely in the dark when it came to applying for a mortgage. Add in help to buy, a new build, and buying off plan and the situation was overwhelmingly. A gentleman called Thomas from Barclays did my first affordability checks over the phone and later on my mortgage application. Thomas was a saint dealing with my million questions, his patience was unending. He was completely knowledgeable, and hand held me through the process, he was positive throughout the process, always reassuring when I was worrying about everything. I can’t say enough good things about Thomas and Barclays and the service I received. Thomas was the friendliest person I’ve come across in terms of banks and customer service and I will be going back to Barclays in the coming year when I look to move to a bigger property.
