Bank not transparent with their lending criteria

The bank did not disclose at the outset what type of property they would not lend on. Basically if their surveyor did not like the decor then he would give a bad report and the bank would not lend. All this and 4 months of them faffing about with the application and having told us its 99% certain that they would lend us the finance, and we had spent money on legal fees, private surveys etc based on their assurances. Buy to Let Mortgage

The process took 4 months instead of the 4 weeks we were quoted culminating in the bank declining to lend on the property as it was deemed "unsuitable", but they were not prepared to offer any further details as to what that meant as its "not the bank's policy" to do so. Reviewed on: 20th November 2017
