6 months and I still haven't finalised the mortgage.

6 months and I still haven't finalised the mortgage. The biggest issue here is Marsden contract LMS, who in turn contract a Law firm. In this case Henna Haywood. The problem is they all have different requirements, and slope shoulders saying that it is the other firms requirement. No one is actually dealing with the issue and it is almost impossible to contact Hennah Haywood using the published telephone numbers. Marsden initially was great but the rest of the service from LMS and HH have been atrocious, but it all comes back to Marsden in the end, so its not good enought. Reviewed on: 7th August 2026

A very straightforward process

I applied for a mortgage, via my broker, with Marsden Building Society. The process has been quite straight forward and easy to navigate. Marsden has provided clear information about the mortgage product and my options and time lines. Reviewed on: 24th June 2026

Service is not good in the conveyancing

I am very disappointed with the service that Marsden has devolved to LMS, and subsequently to the Law firm Hennah Haywood in Newport. Different charges than notified at the beginning of the transaction. A dismissive stance from the law firm when questioning the difference in amounts, I suggest Marsden need to review specific terms and charges for expat mortgages and who they work with. I did it myself.

With the help of experienced telephone Staff and straight forward descriptions of available products , I successfully completed my Mortgage switch myself. I was very nervous but it was very easy .Thank you Reviewed on: 15th June 2026

The Marsden - Caveat Emptor!

The Marsden no longer employ in-house mortgage advisors and provide no advice as to the suitability of any mortgage product offered to the customer. Instead, should you request it, they refer you to the Mortgage Advice Bureau. This organisation charges for its service. Thus, with the Marsden, it's Caveat Emptor, as they offer an execution-only service. In my opinion, this is both unprofessional and unacceptable. I have submitted a formal complaint to the Marsden. .I appreciated all the apparent cooperation.

I appreciated the apparent cooperation between my Connect Mortgage Broker and the Marden Society: also the Marden appointing a conveyancing solicitor . Assessing reliable firms can be difficult. I would have found the paperwork unfathomable without Paul Crow (broker). I was kept fully informed throughout the application,& appreciated being sent the details of the Marden Society's History & philosophy. Reviewed on: 1st May 2026
