Excellent support with a complex mortgage application

I had a very positive experience with Loughborough Building Society during what was not the most straightforward mortgage application. My circumstances were more complex than a standard high-street application, but the team took a sensible and human approach rather than treating everything as a tick-box exercise. Communication was clear throughout, and when I had questions around completion, first payment dates and the mortgage account setup, the responses were helpful and timely. The mortgage completed successfully, the welcome information was clear, and the first payment details were confirmed quickly after completion. I also appreciated that they worked well alongside my broker and solicitor to get everything over the line. Overall, I found Loughborough professional, responsive and reassuring. I would recommend them, especially where a borrower needs a lender that is prepared to properly understand the case rather than just rely on automated scoring. Reviewed on: 19th August 2026

Long winded and time consuming.

It took 3 months to arrange a RIO for £50k on s house that we own valued at £250k. It took 30 minutes to arrange a £40k loan to purchase a car valued at £60k with a £20k deposit. It would have been quicker and as it turns out, cheaper, to arrange a £50k personal loan from my bank. Reviewed on: 7th August 2026

We aim to provide a mortgage offer within 14 days; however, in this case additional clarification was required because the property was not registered at the Land Registry in your name, clarifying the reason for this did delay the issuing of the mortgage offer. Very quick and efficient response to queries and when amending paperwork when required. Phone answered promptly and personally. No waiting in the queue!! Main dealing was via the brokers. Reviewed on: 19th July 2026
