Crooks

They are crooks. Before you buy an insurance get a lawyer to read the fine print. I took an insurance from that company for a trip to Cuba. My wife got sick (a life threatening condition). When I came back to claim the money I was overwhelmed by the paperwork they asked. I actually had to pay extra money to get medical certificates. The outcome was that they declined my claim because my wife had an operation 3 years ago. Although her condition in cuba according to doctor reports was unrelated to the surgery she had 3 years ago they declined to pay the huge medical bill in Cuba. They said if I I had read the fine print I should have told them about that surgery. Their insurance policy is worthless. They are a reckless company Reviewed on: 4th June 2017

They are cheap for a reason - they don’t pay out and won’t help. poor service and not understanding at all. Tried to claim due to Heathrow fire, I had purchased excursions, that I could get to, as my flight was cancelled. Despite clearly saying covered pre-paid costs were covered in my insurance when trying to claim, it wasn’t covered, there are only 3 specific reasons when cancellation cover is valid. An airport closing is not one of them - but it is not in their exclusions, so should be covered. Had a very rude service representative on my first call, he out the phone down on me, such poor customer service!!! Will not be using again, and advise people not to make the same mistake as me. have used Coverwise many times for travel insurance and whilst the prices are good there is a reason. Wo betide you if you make a claim! I claimed on 9/10/24. They will do all they can to delay a resolution and make it extremely difficult all along the way. Constantly ignoring information, requesting multiple times the same information. Taking ages to respond and have the nerve to blame it on high volumes of claims!!! Oh so that makes it ok does it. You pay. You claim but don’t expect a payout as we will wear you down eventually so you give up! Speak to us? No chance, put through to a heavily accented USA citizen who insists you are at fault! Was told by Bernard at AXA that even though I hadn’t been to see my doctor since 2012 before this incident I MUST provide 2 years past history!!! He was like a cracked record repeating this and would not listen when I explained how could I? I downloaded and sent the information from an active NHS account from the portal. It is clearly stated it will be accepted. The documentation sent frm the NHS portal shows quite clearly that i had not had any medical needs since 2012 until 2024!!! Easy and reassuring

Absolute joke of a company

Ended up in hospital in Tenerife, was able to make our flight with a 'Fit to fly' from Doctor. We paid our expenses and started our travel insurance claim through AXA ...30 days and still no further, they keep saying they have not received any information from us, yet we have sent out everything they have asked for countless times. Both Coverwise & AXA are diabolical, we just can't understand where we are going wrong with them! Reviewed on: 9th November 2022

Use this company at your peril

Never recieved a policy but payment was taken..

The money has gone out of my account but I have never received the policy. I have emailed but I still do not have any communication to state that the insurance has been provided. The trip has now ended therefore this has been a compete waste of money. I would not use them again. Reviewed on: 14th September 2022

Do not go near this company, they do not pay out claims

I took out travel insurance with Coverwise and made a claim. Even though they admit they owe the money I haven't been paid. I've had to take out a County Court Summons against them. Avoid them like the plague. They do not answer the phone, ignore emails and ignore recorded delivery letters. You are making a big mistake in dealing with them Reviewed on: 22nd June 2022

Hooks avoid at all costs

Took out the Platinum Holiday Insurance, it wasnt expensive but was to cover theft and money loss while abroad. Fast forward to day 2 of holiday where I lost 200 euro, bearing in mind this was 20.04.22. I called the helpline and couldn't get through so filled in the online claim form on the portal where i got an auto response that someone would be in touch within 30 days. luckily a relative managed to transfer some money otherwise i would have been stranded abroad with no food for 7 days. it has taken till 12.05.22 for someone to pick up the phone to advise they can see the claim had been logged but has only been opened by them on 09.05.22 and will be responded to in another 21 days??, they are currently blaming the pandemic for the delays however if that is the case stop taking peoples money if you cannot deal with the influx of claims. I requested to raise a complaint as looking at the level of complaints they are getting the ombudsman needs to be involved. People take out insurance for the purpose of immediate help when needed, god knows what would happen if you were ill. Avoid at all costs & research the companies before committing to insurance.
