Halifax have lost my money!

I tried to shut my regular saver account with them online on 7 Sept. Wasn't able do that online so I had to transfer all the funds to Everyday saver. Odd but true. Tried to shut down the everyday saver account and I plugged in my bank details for money transfer. A very brief black error message floated across the page saying couldn't do it. I contacted online message chat who assured me they had shut the account down. I said clearly in my message you can't do this as you don't have my bank details where to send my money so I expected them to request them. They didn't ask me for my bank details which i expressly said I would need to give them. Now my everyday saver account says £0!! Messaging service also got rid of me and said couldn't help me but I really don't trust them at all. I now have no money in my accounts / it's gone in a puff of smoke!!! Several calls to customer service on 8 Sept all telling me different things. Eg systems down, IT faults and they all contradicted each other. Couldn't help me. Told me to visit a branch. Visit to Halifax Watford branch on 9 Sept who told me they had no idea what's wrong and can't help me!! Said they will investigate & contact me soon.... wrote my details on a scrap of paper! Don't hold out any hope. No case reference no timeframe no procedure or complaints procedure going forward given. Not explained if I'm in a proper complaint system. No hope of a resolution. Couldn't get rid of me fast enough. Perhaps it's internal fraud? How can no one a large institution not be able to help me and how can they lose my money?! I did phone the fraud Department who said unable to help me. No one seems to be able to help me and I'm extremely stressed Reviewed on: 10th September 2024

Everyday Savers Account

I LOVE my savers account with Halifax, it's so easy to manage through the app with my current account! I can withdraw easily without having to speak to anyone whenever I want, and transfer between my accounts! Love it ! Reviewed on: 3rd December 2018

I'm a long-standing customer for a reason!

I've banked with Halifax since childhood (back in the days when they gave out those little house-shaped money boxes...yep, showing my age!). Over the years, I've been impressed with the ease of service as well as the current online banking options. I'm so pleased they've also signed up to the 'Save the change' scheme. I've always had positive customer service communications both in-branch and by phone. I've only dropped a star for each rating for the way that the rewards offered for certain accounts keep reducing over time. I'm sure this is likely the case with other providers, however, I'd be interested to know whether there are more competitive rewards elsewhere. This would be the one consideration I'd mention to friends and family when they're making their banking choices. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2018

The rates on the Halifax Saver is very competitive . There was no waiting time to see an adviser, who explained everything in simple terms, and you are are also entered into a monthly prize draw. Reviewed on: 8th November 2018

Scam

My children had savings account in Middleton branch, in Manchester and after years when we went to open a current account for my daughter, the staff told me to do the application online. I complained to the manager and manager said I agree. The manager agrees with me saying unless you have £100k they don't care .The funniest part is manager couldn't even locate the savings account and I was told she can't do anything. All I know this was a pass book account oopened ten years ago. Apparently the lady manager searched with the name and couldn't locate the account. I am not sure if they are not aware to search with date of birth or other methods to locate an account. I have put money in this account. The manager and the staff was rude. I know banks have a complaint procedure, nothing has been mentioned and my children's savings account is vaporised . I felt this is scam, maybe they closes the account and transfer money to their own account. I am glad we didn't open the account here. If you ever want a service think twice, cause the branch staff and the manager will direct you to online service or telephone so they can sit and chat. Good luck Reviewed on: 31st August 2018
