HSBC Loyalty Cash ISA reviews (19)

Review of the HSBC, Loyalty Cash ISA:

Rates are going down again!

2
I recently got another letter informing me that the ISA loyalty rates are going down again, which is really not a good way to reward loyalty! Reviewed on: 3rd June 2015

HSBC should do more

3
After holding an account with HSBC for 16 years and facing ongoing disappointment with savings rates and options and share dealing services I spoke to ten about leaving and they said that I would face significant charges to transfer my share holdings and did nothing to address my concerns, nor did they express any desire to retain my custom. As a loyal customer I expected more, I've since moved all of my services to another provider, although j do use the regular saver with HSBC as it pays a vaguely competitor rate. Reviewed on: 31st August 2016

Great branch staff, lots of help.

5
The staff in branch both at counter and the 'help point' are incredibly friendly and informed. The local branch has great disabled access and try hard to make things easier for me. The online staff work hard to explain and show things but the site is more fussy and complicated than another company I used which would be the only negative I'd have. Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

Safe Place to Save

4
Although the interest rate is very low, as with most savings accounts with most banks, I'm quite happy to be saving with HSBC as I think it is one of the more stable banks, so it feels quite safe. It is easy to use their online banking services and I can pay in, or transfer money, easily and the customer service is very good. Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

Beware the term "variable"

3
I have learned the hard way that when applied to savings the term "variable" only means one thing: guaranteed to go down¹. 7 months after openinig an ISA with HSBC the advertised interest rate of 3% was surreptitiously dropped to less than 1%. Why such deceitful tactics in banking? After 12 months, I have transferrred my ISA to Virgin Money who offer a slightly higher interest rate. ¹ when applied to borrowing, the term "variable" has the opposite meaning. Reviewed on: 6th June 2016

Great bonus from HSBC

5
As an Advantage (and I also believe Premier) account holder with HSBC eligible to a loyalty ISA which whilst the rate isn't very good (but where is!) does offer you a bonus of £10 per month - given I'm only paying in the minimum £25 then extra £10 a month is great. Reviewed on: 28th August 2015

additional bonus for premier customers

5
I received a letter from HSBC offering to upgrade to premier current account which would then give me a bonus on my loyalty ISA. I now receive an extra £10 per month over and above normal interest on my ISA - certainly worth having. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

What a joke

1
How they can call it loyalty isa is shameful. Surely if you're part of the loyalty isa you can expect some good rates from them but no give them loyalty and hsbc give you a rubbish rate. Reviewed on: 7th August 2015

ISA rates keep going down...

3
Good service from HSBC, but the rates on offer could be better! Reviewed on: 2nd October 2014
