No electricity with an 8-month-old, lowballed by £3K

I am currently in a dispute with Aviva (underwriting QuoteMeHappy) regarding claim [10578847] that highlights a shocking disregard for safety and the FCA's Consumer Duty. 1. **Safety & Crisis Management Failure:** A massive leak caused a total electrical short circuit. Instead of helping, Aviva and QuoteMeHappy "ping-ponged" me on the phone for hours, refusing to take ownership. We were left **without electricity for 3 days** with an 8-month-old baby. It was scheduled to be 4 days, and was only resolved because the **handyman himself** had to step in and escalate it to them, explaining that a home with no power is uninhabitable for an infant. It is disgraceful that a contractor cared more about my child's safety than my insurer did. 2. **Severe Lowballing:** They offered a cash settlement of just **£486.63** after the excess to fix extensive water damage affecting the subfloor, joists, and ceiling. I have obtained an independent quote for **£3,624.00** to actually fix the damage safely. Aviva is effectively offering 13% of the true cost, trying to use my personal refurbishment plans as an excuse to pay £0 for the structural repairs they are liable for. 3. **Process Failures:** The claims handler has refused to accept the evidence of the water bill and is trying to force me to open a "second claim" (with a second excess) for the same damage event to avoid paying out. I have escalated this to a formal complaint, but be warned: Aviva will bounce you between departments while you sit in the dark, and use every technicality to avoid paying to make your home safe. Misleading Cover, Poor Claims Handling

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Quote Me Happy after making a claim. When arranging my policy, I specifically paid for the courtesy car as an optional extra. However, after my vehicle was involved in an accident, I was told I would not be provided with a hire vehicle because I allegedly did not have “total loss hire cover” – a type of cover that was never offered to me as an optional extra in the first place. What makes this even worse is that they are now classing my car as a total loss when it has not even been properly assessed yet. No final inspection or confirmation has been completed, yet they are already using this as a reason to refuse a courtesy car. This is completely unacceptable and premature. This feels misleading and unfair. I paid for courtesy car cover in good faith, only to be told when I actually needed it that it doesn’t apply due to conditions that were never clearly explained at the point of sale. If courtesy car cover becomes void in the event of a potential write-off, this should be made crystal clear before customers are charged for it. Communication throughout the claim has been slow, unhelpful, and inconsistent, adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I feel completely let down as a customer and would not recommend Quote Me Happy to anyone who expects transparent cover and fair treatment. Read more Read less

I've been with this company since February and have insured my first car with them which is a 2012 citroen c1, so nothing sporty at all. Yet their app that you have to use and the black box they have sent me has caused me nothing but issues since day 1. They've threatened to cancel my policy a few times due to the lack of service they provide as I've had to recently put in WEEKLY complaint to them about this issue and they still haven't fixed it. I've had several cases open up with them due to their services being so poor that they had to look into it further and I still have no fix. I've been sending them constant complaint emails since the first month I've been with them. And more recently they've just started to ignore Mt emails and do absolutely nothing about the issues I'm having. I've just woken up this morning (30/09/2025) with an email from them saying that my weekly report was overall red and if I get another red rated week then my policy is being cancelled. Even though I've contacted multiple people across last week about the same things but I have no solution and no response from them. So the point of this rating is to try and warn other people like me who have just passed their test and looking for cheap insurance to STAY AWAY from this company as they will give you nothing but issues, fake promises, stress, and nothing positive to look at. Do not use this rip off insurance company! I just changed my car and gone from group 36 down to group 22, I expected a refund but was charged more... Also my renewal quote is £630 the exact same as my previous car. I did the comparison quotes on Google and quotes from other insurers are at least £300 cheaper. So there it is Quote me happy, also known as aviva are double the price of my other quotes, and they try telling me its not in their control! Absolutely disgusting!!! Read more Read less

So I am a community mental health nurse and about 6 weeks ago whilst on a visit I got caught in the floods. I drove my Jaguar through a puddle in the road I couldn’t avoid and then lost my power steering and mode control. I called the insurance and they said an engineer would come out to look at Damage. Next day engineer called me to say he would not be coming out because it’s a common fault. I asked him were he got his info he said Google. So I called Jaguar and they said this simply isn’t true. So I contacted my insurance again. They said he should have come out and would sort it out. But could not give me a courtesy car as they hadn’t looked at it. This went on for 5 weeks and in the end I had to tell them I have no choice but to get legal team involved. The next day my car was picked up. However, sill no courtesy car as the engineer is yet to turn up at the garage to look at my car. I need my car as I am a community mental health nurse I told them this but they simply don’t care. I have business insurance and pay for a courtesy car. I believe Aviva insurance are the underwriters. So stay clear of these. They still haven’t sorted this and I’m about to go into week 7.
