AVOID - no human in the loop. It's cheap for a reason.

1
QuoteMeHappy (part of Aviva) told my 19-year-old daughter she had been driving her car — while it was locked, parked on our driveway, and we were on holiday in the US. When she tried to explain this, she couldn't get through to a single human being. Every response came from a bot. No phone call, no named agent, nothing. The outcome: they are now cancelling her policy. As any driver knows, a cancelled policy makes it far harder and more expensive to get insured again — this isn't a minor inconvenience, it's a young driver being penalised for something that didn't happen, with real consequences for her ability to drive at all. This is not an isolated case — as my wife's review and others on here show, there's no human oversight, cancellations are triggered automatically and communicated by SMS, and genuine attempts to raise a query get nowhere. My daughter's mental health has been affected by this, and we are far from the only family saying so. Amanda Blanc, Aviva's Group CEO, should be aware this is happening under the Aviva name. We're raising this with the Financial Ombudsman and considering contacting the media. AVOID — a company that can't put a human on the phone should not be trusted with your insurance. Sent me faulty equipment that said was recording trips but would not record. Had an email saying they were canceling my policy. You can not ring them just talk to an agent over text. I explained all of this to the agent and they were not interested. Overall I have had to pay an extra £150 on top for a cancellation through no fault of my own. I will not he going with them again and am absolutely disgusted Reviewed on: 31st August 2026

Awful Experience with QuoteMeHappy Connect

1
I would strongly advise anyone considering QuoteMeHappy Connect insurance to think very carefully before purchasing this product. My daughter (a driver with 3 years no claims, previously successfully insured with the same company for the previous 2 years) has been insured by QMH for less than a month and her policy has already been cancelled due to “identified app or device mismanagement which is preventing trips being recorded.” We have tried to contact them many times without success. Our experience has completely destroyed our confidence in both the telematics system adopted by Quote Me Happy and the way the company administers their policies. Last week, we initially received an email congratulating the driver for improving their rating from Amber to Green. The following day, QuoteMeHappy contacted us stating that the app had detected no trips during the previous seven days. This made complete sense because the vehicle was not being used as the driver was overseas on holiday during this time. We subsequently received warnings alleging that the vehicle was making trips without the phone being correctly connected. We formally challenged this and specifically requested details of the journeys QuoteMeHappy claimed had taken place, together with an explanation of the apparent contradictions in its own data. This request was ignored by QMH. The situation then escalated significantly. This week we received another driver-rating email showing an Amber rating, followed within 24 hours by notification that the policy would be cancelled because trips had allegedly been made without the correct connection over the previous 21 days. This is particularly concerning because an insurer-imposed cancellation can potentially have consequences when obtaining insurance in the future. In my view, taking such serious action should require clear, reliable and transparent evidence and communication. Instead, we have been left challenging information which, based on the communications we received is contradictory. A formal complaint was raised with Quote Me Happy this remains live and unresolved owing to a lack of response from QMH. A requested cancellation of the policy and a full refund was made because we do not believe this policy is fit for purpose. This request was also ignored by the QMH team. car insurance and breakdown cover.

Had car insurance for a few years now and always get good prices for renewals. Not had to make any claims (which I don't want to really)so can't comment on that side. Also get a good deal with breakdown cover alongside the insurance. Reviewed on: 13th August 2026

The worst company I've ever dealt with

1
The worst company I have had to deal with. I got a quote for £734 for my car insurance. Before paying, I noticed the main driver details were incorrect, so I went back to fix it. Surprisingly, I was not able to change the main driver — only the policy holder could be the main driver — and every time I tried, the price increased even though no other details had changed. In the end, I had to pay £898 and the policy was still set up incorrectly. After purchase, I contacted customer service and was told the only solution was to change the policy holder entirely, which would mean losing my 8 years of no-claims bonus. I decided to cancel because I did not want to risk having incorrect information on my policy. I was then charged £17 for a black box I never used, plus a £28 cancellation fee and charges for the days covered. From my deposit, I got back only £6. Very disappointing experience. I felt the process was inflexible and lacked transparency, and I ended up paying significantly more while still not getting the correct setup. Reviewed on: 21st June 2026

Steer Clear

This is possibly one of the most incompetent companies that I have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with. My son took out car insurance with them, he’s travelling so we made them aware there would be minimal use of the car but that we would use the car as we are named drivers. We have had numerous issues with the black box not working completely or just not recording. We have messaged them several times to make them aware and received no response. There is no way of contacting them by phone and their chatbot always says no one is available and filling out the form online which is the only available way to contact gives no response. Zero communication despite frequent attempts to contact. We have just received a letter to state that the insurance policy has been cancelled due to the black box not recording!!! Absolute joke. We are now taking the matter to the FCA to highlight just how incompetent this company are Reviewed on: 16th March 2026
