Misleading Cover, Poor Claims Handling

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Quote Me Happy after making a claim. When arranging my policy, I specifically paid for the courtesy car as an optional extra. However, after my vehicle was involved in an accident, I was told I would not be provided with a hire vehicle because I allegedly did not have “total loss hire cover” – a type of cover that was never offered to me as an optional extra in the first place. What makes this even worse is that they are now classing my car as a total loss when it has not even been properly assessed yet. No final inspection or confirmation has been completed, yet they are already using this as a reason to refuse a courtesy car. This is completely unacceptable and premature. This feels misleading and unfair. I paid for courtesy car cover in good faith, only to be told when I actually needed it that it doesn’t apply due to conditions that were never clearly explained at the point of sale. If courtesy car cover becomes void in the event of a potential write-off, this should be made crystal clear before customers are charged for it. Communication throughout the claim has been slow, unhelpful, and inconsistent, adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I feel completely let down as a customer and would not recommend Quote Me Happy to anyone who expects transparent cover and fair treatment. Reviewed on: 4th December 2025
