Revolut is an e-money institution which means you can take out an everyday account to manage your money in a range of ways.

You can send, spend, receive and hold a range of currencies. Customers get a physical debit card for everyday spending, a virtual card and a single-use virtual card that resets its details each time you use it.

Modern International Banking App

Revolut is best for technology savvy users as it takes a bit of getting used to versus walking into a branch and picking up your holiday money. It's completely transparent in forex transactions, the rate and the commission are marketing leading. You can preload currency in advance of a trip or just use it as you require and it'll give you the forex rate at the transaction time. For someone traveling a lot, it's a perfect tool. I've saved 2-3% easily per trip and hedged a load of euros before Brexit form the touch of my phone, it could not be easier. Will be interesting to see if they start offering competitive savings and credit products to give mainstream banks a big kick to improve. Revolut Review: Long-Term User Perspective I've been using Revolut for several years now, and it's become a core part of how I manage my finances. While no platform is perfect, Revolut has consistently delivered a modern, flexible banking experience—especially for anyone who travels, budgets, or manages money internationally. What I Like International Use Is Seamless: I travel quite a bit, and being able to pay in local currencies without hefty conversion fees is a huge plus. The real exchange rate is usually spot-on, and currency exchange within the app is fast and easy. Spending Analytics & Budgeting Tools: The automatic categorization and monthly budgeting features have helped me get a better grasp on my finances. It's simple but effective. Instant Transfers & Split Bills: Sending money to friends or splitting bills is fast, and the notifications are immediate. It makes shared expenses hassle-free. Virtual & Disposable Cards: I use these regularly for online purchases. It’s reassuring knowing I can delete a card instantly if something feels off. Crypto & Stock Access: While I don’t use this as my primary investment platform, it’s convenient for small trades or just keeping an eye on the market. A Few Drawbacks Tiered Features: Some of the more useful tools—like higher ATM withdrawal limits or travel insurance—are locked behind paid plans (Premium or Metal). Whether it's worth it depends on how often you use them. Customer Support: Generally responsive, but during peak times or more complex issues, getting a human response can be a bit slow. Crypto Fees: If you're planning to trade often, be aware that fees can add up. It's fine for casual use, but not ideal for serious investors. Final Thoughts Revolut has definitely evolved over the years. It started as a travel-friendly money app, but it’s now closer to being a full-featured digital bank.
