Review of the RIAS, Home Insurance:

Complete rip off company

We have had our buildings and contents insurance with Rias for 5 years. We moved out of our property at the end of October into a relatives house so didn't need to take the insurance with us. They charged us a £60 exit fee even though our Direct Debit for November was taken in the sum of £20, which would cover us for a month we aren't even living at the property. You take out what you think it the best Home insurance only to be told quite happily by Darren who loves his job in claims storm damage (90mph winds) isn't covered for fences, trees, hedges etc. Been with them for home and cars for a few years but won't be renewing. Rias insurance are uninsurable

Home emergency cover what a joke just do not answer phone cuts off and tells you to call back. This company is literally uninsurable!! Reviewed on: 18th December 2022

Appalling service

My policy expired and I did not renew they now claim I owe them £48 - unable to find any way of paying this cant via web site and no-one answers the phone and yet they are threatening to foward my details to a debt recovery service Reviewed on: 5th October 2022

Total waste of time

Renewal through post Card had ran out So no automatic renewal Phoned to pay Wait and wait and wait and wait 32 mins so far no answer Rubbish company, web site is a total joke How do these companies stay in business!!!! Reviewed on: 22nd September 2022

Frustrating claim experience

I have this week made a claim against my home insurance and home protection insurance – dealing with both claims has been incredibly frustrating and time consuming Every time I call the claims lines, I am waiting 30-60 minutes before I can speak to a claim handler – there is a hold message that I’ve heard so many times from other organisations – that you are receiving a high volume of calls – this is just a default message for any time of the day and seems to be there (along with the ling wait times) just to discourage people from calling Why do you feel you can treat your loyal customers like this any time they need to call the claims line? It shows utter contempt and a lack of courtesy that you seem to have made no attempt to address this issue – which I think is just a lack of claim handlers? I have also, this morning, called Evolution who manage your claims and I was holding for them for 50+ minutes! Initially I made the claim on line and received an email response but when I called to follow up yesterday, there was no record of my online claim – then the claims line (Ageas) claimed that I had no building insurance, only Contents – which was incorrect but made the whole experience more stressful than it should have been soon after experiencing the ceiling in my kitchen coming down Absolutely farcical behaviour and lack of service from a well-established insurance company Please sort this out or I’m afraid you’ll be losing customers when they are unfortunate enough to have to claim Reviewed on: 9th August 2022

There website doesn't work and you'll have to wait on the phone for 45 minutes just to pay a bill

They just suck. The website doesn't work.. it is going to be a pain in your bum to get anything from them, even routine changes. Reviewed on: 26th July 2022

Wouldn't Even give it 1 star, DISGUSTING COMPANY

Absolutely disgusting company. Not only did they happily leave me, my partner and our 3 kids one who is 2 years old and Autistic and the others only 3yrs and 6yrs stranded 2 hours away from home due to our car being smashed to bits by a lorry on the A180 with us all inside at 19:30pm. They also happily offered me a pathetic amount of money for my car and told me it had previously been in an accident which it had not been as i am the only owner and i know for a fine fact its not been in an accident. However they saw this fit to knock thousands of pound off my settlement offer and would not budge. There staff are rude, ignorant and unprofessional. They send emails out with documents that you cant even open due to them being "Locked" aka useless. I wouldn't recommend this company if it was the last one left on the earth. Inflexible and doesn't value existing customers

I received my insurance renewal quote and asked whether I could either extend my insurance on a monthly basis or take out a short term insurance as I'm planning to do Airbnb in a couple of months. Apparently this is not possible and my insurance will be cancelled. I had home insurance with RIAS for years and never made a claim. Had I let it auto-renew, I could have cancelled it when the Airbnb is set up, but because I was honest and spoke to them first, I now have to reinsure my property with another provider for two months. Insurers ask customers to be honest, but it's often to our detriment. Reviewed on: 16th May 2022

RIAS aren't renewing my house policy. Why?

I have been with RIAS for some years. I've never been late with a payment. Why do I and my home suddenly 'not fit their criteria? I'm not in a flood zone. My house is well constructed, built 50 years ago. Reviewed on: 13th April 2022
