Once great now terrible

I was really pleased with starting bank but since they will remove interest payments from their current account next year it's now no different from any other bank account. The spaces were super helpful but now you won't earn interest they might be helpful for in month spending but not saving. You can have a single easy saver but you'd need to lump savings together. As I understand it, the kite account also won't earn interest so again less attractive for a kids account as one of the key lessons or to encourage them to save and earn interest. The app is fine - some bits I don't get on with eg not having a running balance summary (it's just the transactions and a current balance) but it was liveable. With the changes it's made a great bank account option now defunct. Reviewed on: 22nd December 2024

Nothing spectacular - just how a bank should be.

Makes it very easy to budget, categories spending. You get a message of money due to be paid before it's paid. There is no charge for foreign currency transactions. It works in situations abroad where other cards can have problems like topping up a Paris travel card or for ticketless travel on Dutchtrains. It provides virtual cards, I have a card for online or overseas transactions that I only top up for known spending so if anything goes wrong the the card can be easily cancelled and only small sums could be withdrawn. Both a problem and a blessing is that credit cards are not available, you have to be able to cover your spending from your current account. Reviewed on: 14th April 2024

As an ex-banker with over 30 years experience, I can say that this is by far and away the best current account service I've ever seen. This is made even better because we can transfer £ & € in seconds by using the parallel accounts capability. It’s different and better

My previous dis-connected experience with 3 other well known banks took my towards Starling. Although, my account is small, I’ve felt I’ve had information available to me at a finger tip, support when some problems arises, and most important I now don’t have to hurdle many obstacles to speak to someone.
