An RBS Premier customer for nearly 40 years, I'm done

An RBS Premier customer for nearly 40 years, I intend to move everything away from them (mortgage, current account, savings, ISA, credit cards). In resetting my mortgage rate they are significantly less competitive than other providers, but the biggest issue is the "LOYALTY" disincentive - they give far better rates for new customers. Now they can argue this is "market practice" but it is STUPID discriminatory business, which shoves 2 fingers in your face and clearly says "RBS DON'T CARE ABOUT LOYALTY". In an era when we can move accounts so freely to blatantly provide poorer service and rip off loyal customers should not be tolerated. And I'm supposed to be "Premier" client. It seems they are relying on customer apathy (and maybe that works for some, maybe its ok for small balances) but frankly this is a disgusting treatment Reviewed on: 18th November 2025

They are going backwards

Been with them for over 36 years but they are going backwards and not keeping up with competitors. For a fee paying a/c you expect good service……RBS don’t deliver. Home emergency cover - utterly appalling and shambolic. Online interaction - poor. Digital assistance - poor. Value for money - poor. Customer service - poor. Reviewed on: 9th November 2024

Worst service

Travel insurance service is appalling

2 years after Covid lockdown in France caused the cancellation of my trip on day 1 on the piste I am still struggling to get my claim paid, any part of it... The online claim process is overly complex, the communication (by automated email) is unclear, and now 2 years later I have been asked to provide proof the slopes closed!! 30,000 Brits had to fly home from France, it was all over the papers, what more proof do they need? Ive been a client of RBS for 35 years, a Black card holder, their travel insurance benefit claim process is awful. Reviewed on: 19th May 2023

Great Account/Benefits and Service

This is not just any bank its the best bank

I’ve stayed with RBSfor 30 years. They look after you, help with mortgages, good credit card rates, account managers on the black account are great and offer lots of help and fair reviews of products and services. I wouldn’t go anywhere else Reviewed on: 17th March 2022

Shame they have now removed the black debit and credit cards

Have been an RBS black account holder for 10 years. Great benefit and always a nice (somewhat shallow) feeling handing over your black plastic to pay. But now… all you get is a standard purple plastic debit card. Real shame. Can imagine there will be lots of complaints about that. Reviewed on: 18th September 2021

Excellent Service

I have used both online help service at RBS and spoken to a representative at RBS in the last few days, on different enquires. The online assistance was very helpful in finding the information I require. The RBS representative for Premier Accounts was extremely, professional, friendly and very responsive to my lack to technical knowledge. His patience when asking me to review online systems etc was amazing. He called me back on two separate occasions to ensure what he suggested had worked and assisted me to access the data I required and managed to get mo onto a Voice Recognition System, which is fabulous and set me up on APP banking. A tremendous representative for RBS, who certainly proved even in today’s automated system there are still representatives who will go above and beyond to help their customers.
