I've felt protected in my flat contents insurance with them. When a bad sewage backflow leak happened due to another downstairs flat tenant stuffing their loo with flushed away baby wipes I didn't manage to claim. As the overall damage cost was actually just under the excess amount. I've felt generally otherwise well protected in my flat contents insurance. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

Friendly staff and competitive rates

I've used Swinton Insurance a few times now for car and home insurance. They're often the cheapest and the customer service is very good, I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2017

Rude and threatening.

Had an awful experience when they threatened to visit my house with bailiffs to recover £72 they thought I owed. It was a admin mistake, which they admitted but didn't apologise. I cancelled my insurance and went with someone else. Reviewed on: 16th July 2017

OVERFLATED RENEWAL COST BUT EXCELLENT OUTCOME

I received a letter informing me that my house insurance was due for renewal shortly and in view of the fact my son had just purchased an expensive pushbike, I rang their customer services number to enquire about its cover. The young man I spoke to was polite and courteous and gave me details of our present policy but told me that as from August the price would increase. I told I was disappointed regarding this so he tried his best to improve on the cost but to no avail. However he then went on to offer us a loyalty price which would save us a considerable amount over the year. I was also very pleased to learn that my son's pushbike was already included and would be fully insured. All in all I commend the company and would recommend them. Reviewed on: 15th July 2017

Very friendly and efficient service

Customer Service

Appalling customer service in Sunderland branch. I made a formal complaint to Swintons' national complaints team who dealt with it in a very prompt and professional manner however feedback was no action would be taken by manager of branch. Reviewed on: 24th January 2017

Absolutely dreadful ...

I used to have home insurance with Swinton - they made numerous errors on the initial paperwork and, on asking them to rectify them, made only some amendments so I had to keep going back to them. They never answered the phone at our local office and only sent out the paperwork after numerous requests. They could not do anything right whatsoever! Reviewed on: 22nd August 2016

Don't get insurance with Swinton insurance company!!!!!!

Swinton is the worst insurance company . I had a home insurance with accidental damage and my little daughter dropped water on our LED 3d smart TV which I've bought 3 years ago about 500 pound and LED screen was broken because of water and it was just audio on it. I tried to fix it and dried with hair dryer but didn't work. I claimed for accidental damage and they came and collected the tv and after about 3 weeks , they told me that it happened because of wear & tear no water damage and they declined our claim. I explained everything but they didn't accept the water damage. Swinton is not responsible for your claim and complain. I canceled our policy with Swinton and I don't recommend it Swinton Insurance. Fantastic Customer Service

I recently moved home and as I rent needed to arrange just contents insurance and my landlord had to arrange cover for tenants,As I had my own items stored in the garage and my landlord had some of his items stored in there we decided to contact Swinton direct.They were fantastic and dealt with us both individually ensuring that we were covered for each of our items and ensured we understood the policy.
