Performing ethically

Initially, I thought ethical investments would be a statement of personal ethics & intent more than 'an earner' - sure, money would grow a bit, but as almost a secondary factor. This year, my fast-growing Triodos investments have enabled me to keep a roof and food on the table during difficult times. Win-win? I should coco! Reviewed on: 26th February 2021

The Triodos Stocks & Shares ISA is a good option for ethical investing, but it has some notable drawbacks. While the focus on sustainability and transparency is commendable, the investment performance doesn’t seem as strong as some competitors, which may be a concern for those prioritizing returns. The app also has room for improvement, particularly in displaying the total amount invested per year, which would make it easier to track contributions. Additionally, transferring money from the cash account into ISA funds can be fiddly and less intuitive than it should be. A bank with true humanity.

I am not a knowledgeable finance whizz kidd and so it has been really good to find a bank with the assistance and advice of the high calibre that Triodos gives. I might be able to find a higher interest rate somewhere or other, but it is more important that here is a bank that exists to help people and organisations rather than make a vast profit. Furthermore, I love it that when I contact Triodos, I am not offered a bot, but I speak to a human being who answers my questions, and treats me as a person, too. Reviewed on: 4th March 2025
