Don't waste your money!

I have been with wise driving for a number of years. Never had an issue as I have never to to claim... Until now!! Put in a claim over four weeks ago. I have courtesy car cover attached to my policy as well as other attachments, anyhow..... Four weeks later, still no courtesy car, and my car is still sat in storage, no one has even looked at it! They are trying to inform me that on my policy it states subject to availability in regards to a courtesy car. Yet on no document that I have received (and I have read them ALL! Including the small print) does it state that! Absolute shambles, it's okay to take your money but they do not deliver on what you are paying for. I'm on the 5th working week since they have had my vehicle and still no closer to getting my own vehicle repaired or a courtesy car. Reviewed on: 6th February 2023

Scammers

Absolute scam, cost me £400 for one months insurers. These people will pull extra charges out of absolutely no where and absolutely rinse you. Increased my premium, their customer service is an ABSOLUTE shambles and quoted me £200 to change my address to down the road…. Ended up cancelling because they were just that horrendous to deal with and dealing with the £75 cancellation, £150 non refundable black box (wtf) and some other random charges they’ve pulled from nothing. Only positive is it’s been a learning lesson for companies to avoid in future, surprised they appeared on compare the market as they’re totally not a legitimate operating company Reviewed on: 15th March 2022

You start off with one price then they put it up! They is only ever one person who answers the phone a white male who sounds South Africa. I have read too many bad reviews! I have been driving for over 20yrs and I am a great driver! Their is no way I should be paying over £60 a month when it started out as £51 a month and I only use my car 3 times a week! Poor support

Started off well and even got my premium down with the data they received from the driver box however when the box developed a fault you can not get through to them. Your are on hold for a minimum of 25 minutes and then can still be cut off or hung up on and because of this they cancelled my policy after 2 conflicting letters that had different dates on warning if they hadn't heard from me to sort it out that my policy would be cancelled. How can I sort it out if can't get through??? I got through eventually but was told it was the first date not the 2nd and they could do nothing now it had been cancelled. Avoid at all costs

Avoid like the plague, this is a rogue business operation! I will keep it simple, had problems installing the telematics black box at the start of the policy, immediately I was sent an email that my policy will be cancelled and that of 25th December yes - Christmas day!! Called the company to explain and request the manger to call me back before the 24th December, took them almost three weeks for a manager to call back after several persistent calls. During my attempts I was given the pathetic excuse that only ONE manger existed and they are on annual leave for three weeks, and there was no other methods of escalating my concerns. My black box was not fit for purpose and will not remain on the windscreen as the adhesive design is inadequate, it keeps falling off and subsequent to this I received another email of non compliance of the box instalment and the policy will be cancelled! After several calls to the company, and long waiting times to get through, once the agents could see from their notes, my pending issues they would put me on hold and cut the call - coincidentally. (This happened several times, and they would not call you back). Other confusing issues which are not explained at the time of taking out the policy or prior; importantly is that the the Telematic black box device does not form part of your rights to obtain a refund during your statutory UK cooling off period, should anyone wish to cancel your insurance policy, and the fee £150 is chargeable for the box plus a £70 circa cancellation fee. So when you buy the insurance you are locked in by default - which is scandalous. Another confusing aspect for the consumer is they use a separate company for their credit agreements (If you pay monthly instalments) call ‘Close Brothers Finance’, which they don’t tell you, until you receive your agreement in the post to which MUST BE SIGNED FOR! Frustratingly this is the first time I have ver had to do this for insurance. They will confuse the hell out of customers by operating under several different trading names; Close Brothers Finance, WISE and iGO4 and Pukka Services. For the end consumer, it is not made clear whom is whom! Not to mention another company that surprisingly called my on boxing day asking if I coughed in my car the night before, (seriously) who said he is not part of the insurance company but worked for their precious telematic black box company. All very bizarre trading activities I have to admit. Bad points -Non U.K. Call Centres -Extremely long waiting times to call through (anything from 20 - 45 minutes, in my experience) -Quality of the call is very poor and so is communication, you have to ask them to repeat themselves. -Black box is solar panelled but yet it requires a charging, owe not to mention they do not provide the charger!? -The box has to be accurately installed onto your vehicle's windscreen which should not be removed other tampered with otherwise you will be informed a cancellation of policy -This is the best bit; they provide you with a ‘solar panel’ enabled black box device, wait for it… That ironically requires charging, and have you know it, they don’t supply the USB C cable to charge in your vehicle. Not to mention they don’t tell you this! If you remove the device to charge it, you get penalised for it! In essence the black box device is not fit for consumer purpose and in fact it one can assume it is designed to catch you out, solely for the purpose of making more money from you. (extorting money from you by hiking you premiums so I have heard). -The the telematic black box device is more hassle than it is actually worth with WISE insurance, trust me other companies do it much better! -WISE Insuarnce is a rogue company and it is beyond belief that the insurance ombudsman haven’t already shut them down. (It’s just a matter of time). -The black box device is non-transferable to another vehicle should you wish to change your vehicle during your active policy, you will have to purchase another at fee of £150! Do not use this company Wisedrive offer the cheapest policy but if you need to cancel a policy regardless of reason( car engine blew up) they are trying to charge me £600. I am going to the ombudsman with this and Martin Lewis. Absolutely disgusting trying to rip off young people. Also in response they put in They quote none payment will affect your credit rating and You should be aware that if you don't pay the outstanding balance, it may be passed to a debt collection agency, which could affect your credit rating and additional fees may be payable - so please give this your urgent attention. Extortionate cancellation fee

My son's car was damaged beyond repair in a accident (not his fault) and being unable to find a suitable replacement car due to increased value of second hand cars, he had no option but to cancel his policy.on top of being charged £150.00 for his black box they then added a £400.00 cancellation fee, the total for my son to cancel insurance on a car that has been scraped is £550.00 for a car that was worth £1300.00 Called their customer service center which appears to be outside the UK as I couldn't understand the person I spoke to due to their limited English. I'm having to take legal advice about this extortionate charge. Definitely avoid this company. Reviewed on: 6th October 2021

Hard to contact

In my experience contacting any member of staff in any department will take more than 30 minutes holding the line. As a customer this has felt insecure at times and not respected. Reviewed on: 4th August 2021
