Not worth having The balance is paid off in full yet card keeps on declining and was asked to provide evidence of payment which they acknowledged payment 5 days prior. Reviewed on: 8th November 2023

Great sign up bonus

This has the best sign up bonus for any free card in the UK. If you ever need to contact them they have the best customer service and always sort out things quickly Reviewed on: 11th June 2017

outstanding benefits and customer service

Nothing is too much trouble for Amex customer service to keep the customer happy. They are way ahead of any banks and credit organisations! Reviewed on: 10th June 2017

Good on the face of it

I received a cold call from AMEX re the business charge card. On the face of it the benefits look good, but the £125 annual fee is not made as clear as it could be and the sales effort came across quite aggressive. Reviewed on: 29th May 2017

Excellent service and great rewards

I opened the american express account to get the bonus avios on offer. They have regular special offers throughout the year, the small shops offer this year was fantastic, lots of money back this year! If things go wrong they are always available over the phone, I changed my credit limit for a big purchase in about 5 minutes. Very happy with the service from AE. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Appalling Customer service for replacement Travellers Cheques 3 months later

Lost travellers cheques - 3 months on AMEX will not repond to any letters, nor have they provided a refund/replacement. Such appalling service Reviewed on: 18th May 2016

Platinum card travel and concierge service

while I couldn't book a restaurant in short notice for special event, Amex concierge service did the booking for us and we got a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival because of being Amex customer. The service rocks Reviewed on: 22nd January 2016

Cashback spot

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am a HUGE fan of American Express. I love the rewards side of what they do in particular. Having 2 cards (a BA credit card and a platinum credit card), I keep an eye on the cashback offers as these can be up to 50% off some useful retailers. I did spot a Debenhams cashback offer. My BA credit card (which I use all the time) was offering me £10 cashback for £30 spend (a 33% cashback). My Platinum credit card (which I rarely use) was offering me £10 cashback for £25 spend (a 40% cashback). This looks like they're trying to get me to use my Platinum card more. On the flip side, they're not rewarding me for using my BA card as my primary card, which doesn't feel fair. Reviewed on: 20th September 2015

Shame it's not accepted in more places

I've never had a problem with my card in places that accept it, and the rewards that come with the card are great. The only problem I have with it is that AMEX seems to not be accepted in very many places anymore, which means I often find myself unable to spend my own money! I know this isn't really AMEX's fault, but it still has negatively impacted on my experience - so I wouldn't really recommend getting a AMEX card anymore. Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

The best charge card

American Express charge card gives me the flexibility and purchase protection I need for my day to day needs. I have had nothing but outstanding customer service from this company and the card itself exceeds all of my expectations. I regularly recommend this charge card to my friends and family and coworkers. I will continue to use this card and enjoy all of the benefits it provides me and my family. Thank you American Express!
