Unethical, evil behaviour

1
My dad had a mortgage with them before he passed away. The property has the same unsafe cladding as Grenfell, resulting in being unable to sell the property until the work is carried out, which is due to start this year. BM failed to inform us of multiple rate increases which meant the payments we made did not cover the new monthly payment. We were unaware of this for over 5 months. Then instead of apologising for their error and working with us, they tried to repossess the property and add thousands in fees to the account. Their complaints handler just repeadly ignored my request for information on the ombudsman, the legal action, the process of how they deal with a deceased estate with unsafe cladding and how to resolve this situation. Despite there being no money in my father's estate to clear the arrears until the property is sold (again this request ignored) I was told to set up a payment plan out of my own pocket. After fighting and having to explain it is not my bill, I finally give in from the stress and rang to set up a payment plan to be told you can not set up a payment plan on a deceased estate. When asked how do I stop the legal action then, I was told I dont know! The complaint handler was then asked to get in touch with me to tell me how to stop this action. She decided not to bother and wrote and update on the complaint saying no new points raised, no further action needed. The mortgage term is ending soon, I have also asked what happens when it come to an end. Susan, the same complaint handler responded with I dont know, we will cross the bridge when it comes to it. Excellent competitive savings rates and service

My parents have been with them for decades and have relied on them for their easy access savings, so when they launched a best buy easy access rate of 1.45% last year I jumped at the chance of opening one as these type of accounts don't stay around for long. It was also a guaranteed rate for twelve months and not variable like most; though once the year is up you have to make sure you change it to their next best. They notify you within 60 days to warn you however. Apart from that, I have found their customer service to be excellent, ( very friendly, professional and efficient) every time I've had to contact them. I also like the fact that you can make faster payments in and out of the account which credits or debits by the close of business the same day or you can set up a payment in via direct debit out of your nominated account instead. Good old fashioned reliable savings. I'll definitely be maintaining a relationship with them and can confidently recommend them to others. Reviewed on: 6th November 2018

Long winded and ridiculous

1
it took me almost 2 months to set up a savings account and after each time I tried to login to the website (and it not recognising my details, and having to reset my security details), then each transfer I made between accounts didn't happen (either manually or automatically) I decided I had had enough and closed the account. I was told that the funds were going to be transferred to my linked account by midnight the same day, and guess what? the transfer didn't happen. I've just been told they don't know why, but it will happen today no confidence at all in them as a company. Don't waste your time, effort or energy. Go elsewhere Reviewed on: 5th September 2018

Alarmingly unprofessional, confused and understaffed

I had been speaking for quite some time on behalf of my mother to this company regarding her mortgage having complied with all power of attorney legalities initially. Today when I called, I had been told by a chap that he does not know who allowed me to speak on my mother's behalf as I am not on their system as being holder of the Power of Attorney - SHOCKING and ALARMING! anyone can speak on your behalf and they wouldn't even bother checking! beware of this company, the staff do not care! - also, they are extremely understaffed and most of the time, only the underqualified speak to you since the qualified are scarce. Best rate easy access

We had a matured fixed-rate account with BM, but rates offered for new fixed-rate accounts were derisory. They were offering easy-access account at 1.3%, but this was online. and I felt uncomfortable having a large sum of money online in an easy access account. However, when phoning them they said we could have the same rates for the same account, accessing through the post. We have decided to do this, and when/if interest rates increase we will be able to review. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

BM Savings is an online financial specialist that offers some very competitive savings products.

BM Savings offers a variable rate savings account that allows unlimited transactions and gives a competitive interest of 1.6% gross, of which 1.35% is a bonus that applies for the first 12 months. BM Savings is part of the Lloyds/HBOS banking group but being online only offers better interest rates than the better known and high street based members of the group. Reviewed on: 30th August 2015
