Income protection

I have been currently waiting 6 weeks to receive payment from an income protection insurance that I took out in Aug 2019. At the time I made sure I clarified any existing conditions and the validity of this policy in relation to them. However, since taking out the policy I have developed a problem completely unrelated to the pre existing conditions, I have completed the required paperwork, supplied relevant documentation and additional appointments which I have attended in the hospital. Unfortunately I am being penalised because my GP despite numerous phone calls to the surgery still hasn’t completed the report they’ve requested. And now they want to know if I have any reports stating that I did not suffer from the problem prior to taking out the policy. I did expect to have an uphill battle after reading the reviews of this product on numerous sites, however I intend to seek legal advice if this isn’t resolved soon. The Financial Times have sung their praises in an article published about British Friendly earlier this year. Maybe they need to contact a few customers who are still waiting for them to honour their promise of income protection. If I’m not paid out soon I will have no option other than to return to work as a nurse and hope my hip doesn’t completely go causing me further injuries. Five years of premiums paid no claims made until I developed a tumour notified them had surgery had all relevant sick notes and they were very rude and smug about refusing to pay me out they make you feel like a liar and a cheat when all you are being is honest with all the paperwork to back up your claim.. they will delay and delay until they can find a loophole to not pay .. they are 100% fraudsters and should be avoided at all costs this company is the lowest of the low preying on sick and vulnerable people in there lowest moments they would rather you was homeless than honour there contract …. SCAM ALERT!

SCAM ALERT! I left the hospital after surgery. They refused to pay for 8 weeks of recovery. The reason was that if anything changed in health conditions, they couldn`t pay. I called them many times, I wrote them many emails during 7 months and they just dragged the time. I asked them to pay all the monthly payments back but they ignored it. Took 2 months to let me know existing condition was not covered

Took 2 months to let me know existing condition was not covered although not had treatment or visited doctor in 3 years. They could have let me know straight away I was not covered, taking another 2 months charges out. Put monthly charges up Dec, age related, callex twice to get reduced, to lower acceptable sum with reduced premiums this was never actioned. Total rubbish company do not use. Lovely, friendly company as the name suggests

I have had a positive experience with British Friendly who gave me the cover I needed fro income protection. they have always been fast to respond with my queries and offer good rates for their product. Reviewed on: 18th February 2021

Proper unprofessional waste of time

Excellent Value

This is a great company with excellent value products and the staff are friendly just like their name. Their Mutual Benefits scheme offers lots of extras at no extra cost such as second opinions from doctors, high street discounts, counselling, wills and power of attorney registrations.
