Great student account

I am a middle-aged student, doing an MA in novel writing. When I asked for a student account with a free £500 overdraft facility, my bank (the Halifax) immediately agreed and switched my account over on the spot. It was very straightforward and very beneficial. I have already finished the MA but can enjoy the benefits of the student current account for another year. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

Easy to use and enable adding

When ever I need to increase my limit I can simply submit a form which comes back straight away. The app can sometimes be down but that’s normal for many banks. They offer cashback on purchases wirh certain brands and are a very good bank to use. Reviewed on: 11th June 2023

Halifax student account has been a life saver for me. I knew coming to university during a inflation would be troubling. Thankfully, the student account offered me a fixed overdraft so it keeps me going during my degree. The wait times for incoming payments can be a bit of a pain at times but there than that, Halifax has been amazing. Reviewed on: 15th March 2023

I got a small overdraft with Halifax when I became a university student, everything was very clearly set out and I was fully informed about the bank account itself. In my third year I went to study abroad and I spoke to Halifax to see if I could make my overdraft larger to accommodate for the large payments that would be coming out my bank and incase I needed any back up funds - they were extremely helpful, with no hesitations or scary questions. Great customer service with very efficient staff

The staff are extremely friendly and try to be as quick as possible. Every transaction I have placed was simple and problem free. The bank is nice, warm and cosy which is great in the winter. I have never had to wait in a queue for more than five minutes which is great. Their opening hours could be improved especially when I have to go to the bank after work. I have been able to feed myself and pay my rent thanks to the interest free overdraft, now I have completed my degree I am only £70 from paying it off altogether! Thank you Halifax !

Going to University in London is extremely expensive and I didn't know how I was going to cope.
