Not Bad But Not Enough

I used Lloyds Bank for a really long time, and for the most part it was decent and reliable for everyday banking. It was actually my main account for quite a while, so I’ve used it across a range of things like daily spending, transfers, and just general money management. Things started to change when I got a new phone. I tried for a long time to add my card to Apple Pay, but it just would not connect at all, which became extremely inconvenient. I genuinely tried to resolve it properly. I contacted customer service multiple times, went into the branch a couple of times, and spoke with different team members, but no one was really able to fix the issue. It kept getting blamed on the system or interface, which was quite frustrating. When I later looked online, I realised a lot of other people were facing the same problem, so it clearly was not just me, but it still did not seem to be getting resolved. Because of this, and the fact that it has now been almost a year, I have pretty much stopped using Lloyds as my main account and instead just use it as a buffer or backup account. I also feel like they do not really offer much, or at least clearly communicate, when it comes to savings accounts and interest. I did not gain much from it, and that is one of the reasons I started using other banks for savings instead. The app itself is fine, but compared to more modern options like Revolut or Monzo, it feels quite basic and less user friendly. It is not as intuitive, and it can take longer to find things or navigate around. Overall, I think the bank is okay, but my experience has not been the best recently. I have had issues where my debit card gets declined randomly and shows incorrect messages about exceeding limits, even though I do not actively use it anymore. Because of this, I do not feel fully confident relying on it. I used to enjoy banking with Lloyds, but now I mainly keep it as an emergency account. I would consider recommending it, but it definitely would not be my first choice. Reviewed on: 19th March 2026

So, I was thinking about that big bank, you know, the one with the lion logo. They've been around for ages, offering pretty standard banking services for folks. You can do all your usual stuff with them, like saving, borrowing, and managing your money day-to-day. They're a pretty solid choice if you're looking for a reliable, no-frills banking experience. Nothing too fancy, just good old-fashioned financial support. Reviewed on: 7th March 2026

Would recommend Lloyds bank

First of all i would like to ask if anyone ever wins the prize as i have filled out a few of these and never got a response of who has won? I would give LLoyds top marks as they were very kind to me and sensitive in helping me with my situation, which helped me tremendously to get out of the mess i was in. Everyone i spoke to was empathic and understanding, so cannot rate them highly enough. Reviewed on: 24th January 2026

The Tunstall branch staff were excellent.

The Tunstall branch were very helpful when I visited them to withdraw some cash . I am partially disabled, walking with crutches and have hand mobility difficulties. The staff were very willing to assist me and answered my questions as if they were well prepared to help their customers manage. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Not only have Lloyds closed many branches, they also introduced monthly fixed charges on all treasurers accounts for small organisations like sports clubs and they made owning a mobile phone the only way to access these accounts. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Avoid Lloyds Bank

I am now actually afraid to go to my local branch to perform a banking transaction. I am virtually rugby tackled by an obnoxious jobsworth with an iPad who wants to prevent me from seeing a cashier face to face at the counter. The staff member wants me to explain in detail why I need the cashier and not the cash point or online option.. There is no privacy and if I could be setting myself up for a mugging if I say I am withdrawing a lot of cash and someone overhears. These jobsworths are have become increasingly aggressive and I was shouted at by one of them on once. I am looking to change my bank after 30 years. There is no customer service at Lloyds Bank. They want to close all of the branches to save money and clearly don’t mind losing some customers along the way. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026
