This was possibly the best current account out there when I first switched to it 2 years ago. Unfortunately, with increase in monthly fees earlier this year it isn't such a great deal as it was. But it's still pretty good as the interest paid on my modest balance and on bill payments via direct debit more than covers the monthly fee. No complaints with the service from Santander either.

I have had a Santander 123 account for a few years. I have always had good, friendly service at my local branch. However, I am considering a change of account as the interest rate has been lowered to 1.5% (previously 3%). With interest rates likely to rise this account is likely to become less competitive.

I have 2 accounts with this company. With high street banks declining I was tempted into their rates of interest. At one stage I wasn't earning any interest whatsoever over several months because I hadn't the right direct debits in place. This bank is quick to blame but not to support.
Why can we not have personal service of high quality with people working their best for us and tracking our financial movements like a Financial Advisor as a matter of course. They earn enough out of us after all.
